there's a break in the fence just as you get on Tukey's bridge and there's a small encampment right at the edge of the concrete. if someone were to stumble, they'd end up in the water. there were several shopping carts on the trail and a suitcase. there's another seemingly abandoned encampment over the fence, right on the edge of the Franklin Street exit south. lots of trash.

tense and heaps of trash taking the space of free all day parking. in a city with such limited parking, are we allowing this now? I know people need to find a place to live but should it be literally on the street? heaps of trash everywhere. if we're going to let people camp, then we should at least in force some basic sanitation requirements and require that they don't take up a parking spot or three.

every evening cars are parked in the bike lane in Payson Park or completely on the grass right under the sign that says no parking on the grass. this is a safety issue for cyclists not to mention damaging to this public space that's a park not a parking lot. please address this issue it's become habit for people to do this because there's never any consequence.

continual and unsafe parking in Payson Park. this is a daily issue. happens every afternoon when there's baseball and every evening when they're softball. street parking on West kidder is open as was the upper parking lot. in fact the upper lot was completely empty. apparently people who come out for exercise and fun can't manage to walk a few extra steps to park their car in the appropriate place. this is very dangerous for cyclists particularly at night. they're blocking the bike lane entirely.

A collapsed tent and loads of personal items, including an office chair seem to have been dumped here. There are two shopping carts across the street as well, near the new building going up. And there is an encampment behind the chin link fence. The dumped item on the exit lawn are of more concern because the people who own these items will need to cross this exit at a dangerous place- cars do not expect pedestrians there.

Now that the new shelter is open, the city should not allow camping within city limits. There IS a place to go now that is safe, warm, and clean and provides a free shuttle to get there and back.

Two tent sites seen while walking the Back Cove trail. While headed south and walking adjacent to 295, there is an active tent site and sizable trash heap just off the highway, easily seen from the trail. There's another one further on near the Franklin St exit that may now be abandoned- the tent looks in rough shape but there is still sleeping material. I understand that unhoused people need to find shelter where they can but these two site are super dangerous, in my opinion. I doubt they are accessed by hopping the fence from the trail which means they probably walk the highway.

huge homeless camp. looks like extremely unsanitary conditions, not to mention destruction of Green space. I don't mean to sound uncompassionate but it seems the city is just allowing this to happen, almost inviting it to happen.

did the city of Portland change the rules about parking in Payson park? there are cars parked all over the field on the grass on both sides of the road while the top lot in the park closest to Ocean avenue is all but empty. makes it very dangerous to be a pedestrian or cyclist. can we please change this abuse of parking
  • 633 Forest Ave Portland, ME 04101, USA - Portland
Constant gridlock on Forest Ave. Both from the Revere st intersection and Ocean Ave. either the lights aren't timed well or the traffic cops need to enforce the "do not block intersection" rule. It takes forever to get onto Forest Ave from these two locations. Too much idling is contributing to pollution to boot.
