There is a depression forming on Hwy 20 (westbound) just prior to bridge before Hwy 31. This is causing some vehicles to temporarily lose control while entering the curve and merging down to one lane. This issue is becoming seriously dangerous and is a significant safely concern. Please fix this ASAP.
  • 450 Martin Rd Sw Huntsville 35824, United States - Huntsville

From Martin westbound turning left onto Zierdt the left turn arrow is now on long enough for only one vehicle to turn. This problem and the fact that the left turn lane is seriously to short is blatantly unfair to those trying to turn left onto Zierdt. This is also the same reason people are driving on the wrong side of Martin road just to get to the left turn lane. To make the matter worse, the latest road markings have made the left turn lane itself even shorter. All of this continues create a chaotic safety issue that simply isn’t necessary.

    Simple common sense solution...
Since there is no eastbound traffic into Gate 7 during the late afternoon and evening rush, the left turn arrow referenced above should be held green for the same amount of time the solid westbound green is lit to allow people to exit RSA more fairly and safely.

The shoulder on the east side of Zierdt Road (in the curve) has become dangerous again. The drop-off at the white line is simply unacceptable given the amount of traffic that now uses this road. Where is the common sense here? Why can't the city, county or both pave a 2-foot shoulder along the sides of the road and permanently fix this issue?
  • 101-119 Martin Rd Sw Huntsville, AL, 35824, USA - Huntsville
The traffic signal at Zierdt and Martin is delaying northbound traffic way too long. It appears the green arrow is cycling for southbound traffic turning left when no one is in that turn lane. Southbound traffic is allowed to free-flow while northbound traffic is held back. When northbound traffic finally gets a green light it only lets a few vehicles pass before the light turns red. Please fix this issue.

This already dangerous curve on Zierdt Road is again developing deep shoulders at the white line. As stated in a previous post, this is a safety issue made worse as it is in the curve. School buses and other vehicles continue to cross over the center line into oncoming traffic for fear of running their outside wheels off the edge of the road. Repeatedly filling in the shoulder with gravel/rocks simply doesn't last. A permanent shoulder should to be installed on this heavily traveled road before a serious accident occurs.

Water is leaking from a crack where the street meets the curb in front of 101 Eagle Trail SW. It doesn't appear too bad yet, but it is leaking enough that you can see it flowing down the street. It might cause an ice problem when the temp drops below freezing this week.

On Barren Fork Boulevard near Eagle Trail there is broken glass in the center turn lane of the road. Can this be cleaned up soon? It is in the part of the turn lane that is used to turn onto Eagle Trail. Thanks.

Two issues with Zierdt Road south of Martin Road

    (1) This part of Zierdt Road south of Martin Road has no shoulders and significant drop-offs at the white line. This is a safety issue made worse as it is in a curve. Even school buses frequently cross the center line into oncoming traffic for fear of running their right wheels off the edge of the road. Repeatedly filling in the shoulder with gravel simply doesn't last. A permanent shoulder needs to be installed on this now heavily traveled road before a serious accident occurs.

    (2) This same section of Zierdt Road is deteriorating and potholes are becoming too deep, jagged and quite frequent. I can't speak for the rest of Zierdt Road further south, but this section likely needs to be resurfaced. Are there plans for this to happen soon?

Huntsville should push the cellular companies to all more towers in the 35824 area. Many residents don't have adequate signal and can't reliably use their cellular phones in their homes.

Thank you for the left turn signal for northbound traffic on Zierdt Road needing to turn left onto Martin Road. Traffic backs up well south on Zierdt Road preventing access to the turn lane. People are having to drive on the wrong side of the road just to be able to get up to the turn lane. A much longer turn lane should be installed.

The city of Huntsville should push all major cellular carriers to add towers in the 35824 area to improve coverage that most of the rest of the city enjoys. Most people in this area have little or no usable signal inside their homes.

This road has been neglected between Redstone Arsenal and Huntsville International Airport for WAY TOO LONG considering the amount of daily traffic that now uses it. This road is crumbling and contains frequent holes that cause damage to vehicles. It is also a VERY DARK road for it to be in the city of Huntsville. Add some lights. Please improve this road so this area of Huntsville can have a chance to grow like other areas of Huntsville. I think the city of Huntsville owes this overdue improvement to it's great many citizens that now call this area home.
