    Heads up! It is that time of year again to have the dirt dredged out of the drain on either side of Nolen Avenue just past my house (4240 Nolen Ave), and just before the gate at Monte Sano State Park. Once the leaves fall it will again surely create a flooding situation. Currently I am fine. But every year heavy rain causes water to backup and overflow the road washing out my property. This year maybe the South side of the drain might need to be dredged. I don’t know, you decide.

    The drain pipe passing under Nolen Ave at the entrance to Monte Sano Park is partially blocked; enough so that the overflow is washing out my yard. Probably need a back hoe to do it properly.

    This is both a DRAINAGE issue and an EROSION issue.

    The drain pipe under the road is blocked with dirt and leaves. When we get another downpour it will overflow the road, as it often has, and flood out my yard at 4240 Nolan. The cause of this is erosion of soil carried from the side of the road to the drain. At least make the trench at the pipe deep enough to hold some accumulation of sediment so you don’t have to come out as often. Currently another division of Huntsville utilities is working with a back how just feet away, but they said it’s not their job.

    Here we are on the eve of heavy rain and the drain pipe under the road next to my house is still clogged.
    It’s been 6 months since is first posted this problem; and over one month since I re-posted.
    When it overflows the road it comes right through my yard.
    Every time it overflows someone comes out and clears it just enough to drain the new lake, but not enough to truly fix the problem. They say they can’t dredge it when it’s so wet. Well, we’ve had months of dry days and still it isn’t done.

    Water is overflowing the road and washing out my yard.
    Earlier this year I posted this same problem but Monte Sano park personnel temporarily took care of the problem. I said to them, and they agreed, the drain side of the road needs to be dragged out to prevent sediment from backing up through the drain pipe under the street. This is the third time this problem has happened in the past 12 months.
