I'm a greenway volunteer. A patron asked me to report the following and I noticed other like items. 1. on the paved path from Sertoma arts ctr to the lake there are 3 tall dead trees on the left next to the path. I put flagging tape on them. 2. Taking the above path and turning left crossing the long wooden bridge and past the large culvert, there is a large dead pine tree on the left leaning toward the trail. I put flagging tape on that as well. these don't seem like imminent threats but I was asked to report them. call me if you need to. 919.219.4645

I submitted request #12288470 on Friday May 6th about a tree leaning over Mine Creek at the back of my property. I got a quick response from Mr. Dauterman and we discussed the issue. Friday night during a subsequent storm the tree fell completely and is now lying in the creek bed about a foot above low water level. It has now ripped about a 10 foot rootball away from my yard which is hanging by the roots. Even the next normal rain will cause the creek level to rise above the tree, which will act as a dam, thereby causing more extensive damage to my property. This downed tree also now serves as a bridge for any neighborhood kid who decides to walk across it. That opens me to potential liability as well. For these reasons I need this tree removed immediately.

Falls Of Neuse Rd Raleigh, NC, 27587, USA

Southbound lanes of Falls of Neuse Rd right where the Neuse River bridge meets the road there's a massive dip that will eventually cause my suspension to be damaged. This needs to get fixed before it causes major damage to my vehicle.

Dangerously low guardrails and no space for pedestrians or bikers on bridge Archived

The bridge across I-40 has the older-low-style guardrails - these are about mid-thigh for pedestrians and dangerously low for bikers, plus there is no sidewalk or bike lane allocated. Traffic is moving at a high rate through here, and I see pedestrians and bikers daily trying to make their way across -

  Yup, still an issue. Low guardrails and no sidewalk area, raised or marked - the lanes go right up to the railings. Also a danger for motorcyclists.

  The little-used bridge across I-40 at Old Reedy Creek Road (runs past Lake Crabtree into the South side of Umstead State Park) has very similar guardrails with no raised sidewalks. The DOT added bolt-on height extensions attaching at the mounting bolts for the original guardrail stanchions - I will post a picture next time I ride over the bridge. Much safer for the runners and bikers that ride across the bridge every day!
  
  Your comment echoes my worry that this issue will be put off until a major rebuild effort is scheduled for the Airport Blvd bridge. I seem to remember the Legislature inserting some language a couple of years back that pedestrian and bike improvements were no longer funded at the state level.
  
  I'm surprised that something awful has not happened already in this location, and hope that the streak continues. But as they say, hope is not a plan.

  Here's what they did on the Old Reedy Creek bridge across I-40 - these look like bolt-on replacements for the original low railing that re-use the same mounting points.
