There are a caravan of vehicles blocking residents of our community from entering and exiting as well as vehicles blocking our cars within our driveways.

I have video footage captured on my doorbell camera of this woman from the Edition Apartments allowing her dog to defecate and not picking up after her pet. How do I report and provide video evidence?

Commercial vehicle parked in residential zone. This is an on-going issue. Please patrol and ticket daily.
  • 5910 40th Ave Hyattsville MD 20782, United States - Ward 3

    6500 America Boulevard Hyattsville, Maryland, 20782 - Ward 3
I am a resident of University Town Center and the amount of dog waste in the neighborhood has become a disgusting health hazard. My dog has been sick twice due to interactions he's had on walks in and around the neighborhood. The management company does nothing about cleaning up after people who don't pick up their waste in the public areas. They installed waste facilities and they are not emptied in a timely manner or restocked with waste bags. Is there anyway for you all to address this with the management company who owns the public spaces and green spaces in this town center?
  • 3401 East-West Hwy E Hyattsville MD 20782, United States - Ward 3

Another full size Penske truck parked on Sentinel for well over 30 minutes unloading at the Edition.

When will the Edition manage their move ins and move outs without compromising community safety on a narrow street with bicycles, pets, and children? They are an apartment business literally in the business of dealing with move ins and move outs so this should not be hard. They control hundreds of parking spaces and a line of future resident spots on Editors Park Drive which could easily accommodate larger vehicles while still leaving multiple designated future resident spots in their parking structure.

Creating a dangerous situation is NOT their only solution!

  • 3449–3499 Sentinel Dr Hyattsville MD 20782, United States - Ward 3
Extremely dangerous conditions for hours caused by the Edition's vehicles - moving truck, Restoration truck parked several feet from the curb, and second truck parked behind the moving truck. Why does this business refuse to use its loading dock for the vehicles that service it? Unclear which vehicle was there first but moving truck and Arity Services vehicles should be ticketed for overstaying and proximity to intersections, and restoration vehicle should be ticketed for parallel parking too far from the curb. Editors Park features narrow streets and sidewalks with children, pets, etc. Someone will get hurt if the city does not encourage the Edition to take responsibility for its vendors!
  • 6215 Herald St Hyattsville, MD 20782, USA - Ward 3
The Edition Apartment building has dumpsters partially blocking Sentinel Drive this morning (10/4/21). This is a continuous and consistent issue that needs to be addressed.
  • East-West Hwy Hyattsville, MD, 20782, USA - Ward 3
There’s been two car accidents in the last 10 days (several over the past few years) as a consequence of no traffic or pedestrian signals on East West Highway and Toledo Terrace. This is a new community development with plenty of pedestrians. The sign has been knocked down and car debris remains on the road making it dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers! Can you please replace the sign and also place better traffic signals (speed cameras, pedestrian signals, etc.) for pedestrians. It’s very dangerous since drivers speed through the area all of the time.
  • 4007 Oglethorpe St Hyattsville MD 20782, United States - Ward 3
Please consider adding a speed bump to the 4000 block of Oglethorpe St. People drive >10 mph over the speed limit without even slowing down at the stop sign, and there is a daycare one block away and a school up the road. There is heavy foot traffic here, especially when children walking to and from school. I understand current and previous residents have already requested this to no avail, but please don't wait until something terrible happens to remediate the problem!

    Dear City of Hyattsville Officials,

As a resident of the Editors Park community in Hyattsville, MD, I am reaching out to express our collective concern regarding the speeding vehicles within our neighborhood. The safety and well-being of our community members are at risk, and we believe that the installation of speed bumps is a necessary step to mitigate this ongoing issue.

The absence of effective traffic calming measures in our area has led to a noticeable increase in vehicles speeding through our streets. This behavior not only endangers the lives of residents, particularly children and the elderly who frequently navigate these areas on foot, but also diminishes the quality of life by disrupting the peace and tranquility of our community environment.

We have observed and experienced numerous instances where the excessive speed of vehicles has nearly resulted in accidents. The fear for personal safety has become a daily concern for many of us, compelling me to advocate for a solution that will ensure a safer community for everyone.

Implementing speed bumps in strategic locations throughout Editors Park would serve as an effective measure to slow down traffic, subsequently reducing the likelihood of accidents. It would also signal to drivers the importance of maintaining a safe speed within residential areas, thereby fostering a safer environment for all residents.

Understanding that this request may require a comprehensive evaluation, including traffic studies and consultations, we are prepared to support the City’s efforts in any way necessary. Our community is eager to engage in discussions and collaborate on finding the best solutions to address this pressing issue.

I urge the City of Hyattsville to consider our request with urgency and to prioritize the safety of our community members by implementing speed bumps in the Editors Park area. We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a favorable response.

Thank you for your consideration and for the work you do to maintain the safety and well-being of our city’s residents.
