Today, a City of Bridgeport inspector issued a red slip (aka inspection "fail") to the man managing the foundation work site at 108 Beacon St.

This man -- who's described himself to people in the community as the "contractor of record" -- immediately stuck the red slip in his pocket. However, the red slip is supposed to be posted at the site for all to see. Why is there no enforcement?

    Furthermore:

How did a "contractor" without a contracting license in the State of Connecticut pull a permit in the City of Bridgeport?

How did the site get any permits when it is in the Black Rock Harbor historic district and the City of Bridgeport Historic District Commission has not issued a certificate of appropriateness to the owner of this property for any/all plans presented to the Historic District Commission since 2019?

This is an ongoing issue and I have finally caught the person on my home cameras. This man does not reside in any of the units on either side of Madison Avenue where he is leaving his commercial 16 wheeler. He parks the commercial vehicle and then leaves in his car. Here is his a photo of his vehicle left when he takes the truck.
If you would like the full video that shows him pulling up, checking his truck and then taking off again I'm happy to share.
If this isn't resolved based on contacting the person by information of both license plates I'm happy to bring it to the media outlets. I have called the non-emergency line number numerous times as well as neighbors and nothing is done at all!

Vincellette St Bridgeport, CT, 06606, USA - Bridgeport
Last night, and several other nights in recent months, the sounds of extremely loud car exhausts disrupt the quiet of the night hours. Last night, a car in the Vincellette/ Madison Ave area was racing around with a loud exhaust that also made extremely loud banging/ popping sounds. It circled the area for at least 40 minutes around 10pm. I do call the non emergency complaint line, but what is being done to contain this issue? It really is a problem when people are trying to sleep.

This house has been repeatedly reported as an Airbnb on this site; however, nothing is done by the city about this. This is in a residential area and is being used as a commercial business. There have been many complaints about this house and one of the last ones was responded to by a city employee who investigated and talked to the owner through the ring device. Check the history and you'll see that the owner stated through ring that they live in this house. I have attached a copy of the Airbnb advertisement as well as recent ratings from people who have rented the house. So let's do the proper investigation about this house and realize it is a commercial rental in a residential area and shut it down. I am a homeowner and the groups that continuously rent this property are disturbing. It's a rental for them but us homeowners have to deal with the loud music, etc. that comes with rental properties. So Bridgeport, do the proper investigation and get this shut down as a commercial rental in a residential area!

Has anyone been sick due to the demolition from the University of Bridgeport dust?
My house the air quality was so bad! I got sick and my dog started to get sick I bought three new air purifiers they showed very poor quality of my air and after running them for a few days now it got to "Fair"!
I had one purifier before that would always monitor the indoor air as well However, it was always good until this demolition started and the amount of dust build up inside of my house that I had to increase even the amount of times my cleaning ladies comes
Not sure what can be done to make this better But I am sure there's a lot more people closer of the UB project that might be even worse condition

4/25/22: Cement poured to make a footing extension to try to partially correct the footings (they are still above the frost line). Then a polyurethane tube product was to be applied between the footing and footing extension seam. See the products' recommended cure times -- days or even weeks. This inner side of the "U" foundation was then partially filled on same day with gravel and leftover cement slopped over it. All that on Monday 4/25.
4/26/22 (within less than 24 hours of cement pour and supposed sealing): Inner side of "U" filled with more gravel and dirt, and then flattened -- burying prior day's work. How will concrete and poly sealant cure adequately?

And the footings are still NOT below the frost line.

The evidence of multiple code violations is growing.

You can't bury your way out of a foundation above the frost line and then change the existing grade. You must remove the faulty foundation and try again.

More than 4 SHU students at this address.

Sacred Heart students have returned for the Fall session and we already have multiple parties this weekend in residential areas, blocking the residential neighborhood streets with traffic, cars blocking fire hydrants, blocking street corners, and walking in the streets during daylight like it’s some type of block party. These are residential areas, not Sacred Heart dorms. Calling the police is not helpful because they don’t have enough staff to support these calls, as there are more important things to tend to. Why are the police such-short staffed? A big City like Bridgeport needs to have available resources. Since students returned, the traffic has increased two fold and they are speeding through the streets, neglecting stop signs. And of course, there are more than 4 non-related parties living in rentals, which equates to many more cars in one household that are not paying property taxes on vehicles. They clog up the streets, park in the wrong direction, and park halfway in the street at times during normal days, not just during parties. Why do we, the tax paying residents of Bridgeport, have to put up with this?
Why can’t the City of Bridgeport enforce the zoning for these houses? Hire more individuals for these jobs and start to do something about it. There are so many residents that have gotten fed up and left the City only to have the house flipped for college students. Don’t you see this happening in front of your eyes? Because the North End certain does! Perhaps you should spent some time in the North End and see what the real issues are. Would you like living next door to these houses? Probably not but you do nothing to help the residents. And the excuses I have heard in the past are that these students are bringing money into Bridgeport. Well so would a family if they could afford these houses? And they would be paying property taxes on vehicles – something that is sorely missing today! And they would be more respectful of their neighbors. The North End has become a party area reflecting the wild-wild west. Even calling the police does nothing to curb parties.
Why can’t there be a task force for zoning for all the college houses and work with Sacred Heart Administration or Dean of Students to crack down on these houses with 5 or more living in the houses? The absentee landlords know nothing will be done to them in Bridgeport so the habit continues. They don’t care what their houses look like and do the bare minimum for maintenance but collect a high dollar for rent. So will you ignore this complaint, as you have in the past, or do something to help the residents? And why does this complaint keep getting closed out without resolution or response?

Used to be just once in awhile on weekends now it's almost every night for hours, lots of people loitering with their tricked out cars, just chilling out like it's a public park with chairs and tables, revving engines, blasting music. Can hear them streets away. Is it an outdoor night club and loud engine comparison club now or a grocery store parking lot?

WELCOME TO BLACKROCK BLIGHT... Sadly, this now seemingly abandoned gateway lot of Bridgeport public property was once cared for by upstanding/grandstanding "concerned citizens" (who published their efforts broadly for all to see and be impressed by) in lieu of Bridgeport taking care of it. It looks like a sham full dump now. Bridgeport City Resident Tax Dollars not at work... right under the snarky nose of some residents more occupied with what the next door neighbors are building. The irony and the plot sickens...
