Notified About

  • 253 Moore St Princeton, New Jersey, 08540 - Princeton North
For several months, water has been flowing off this property over the sidewalk, saturating the grass on either side. There's an orange traffic cone (also here for several months) to alert pedestrians of the water, but no action has been taken to solve the problem.
  • Jefferson Rd & Mt Lucas Rd Princeton, NJ, 08540, USA - Princeton North
Thank you for installing signs at two intersections with Valley Road saying "Cross traffic does not stop." These signs are also urgently needed at the stop signs on Mt. Lucas Rd. where it intersects with Jefferson Rd. I've reported this is a dangerous intersection in the past, and TWICE this week I've almost been hit by people driving on Mt. Lucas who slow down to stop and then go right through the intersection assuming the traffic on Jefferson also stops.

Most days, there are four or more large blue recycling bins in and lining the crosswalk at Spring St.and Witherspoon St. Thes bins, combined with the adjacent concrete block and street signs, make it very difficult for drivers going down the hill on Witherspoon St. to see pedestrians in the crosswalk. Pease address this safety issue by making sure the recycling bins are removed from the crosswalk and 1) not put back in the crosswalk and 2) not put put in a location that prevents drivers from seeing pedestrians.

For the past week there has been insanely loud drilling and construction noise that begins around 10:30PM and often goes as late as 4AM. The work is being done on Witherspoon St., but can be clearly heard - through CLOSED windows - two streets away. It is an extreme instance of noise pollution that many other people who also live in the area have noted. We have all called Princeton PD, who say that there is nothing they can do as the work has an "emergency permit". If it is an "emergency", why is the work ONLY being done late-night? I frequently walk by the area throughout the day and there is no progress during daylight hours. It is an irresponsible and unacceptable amount of noise that fully disturbs all who live in the vicinity - we and our children need to be able to sleep (before 4 AM!) in order to go to work and school. It's egregious, and I will be following up in every manner possible until it ceases. Thank you.

I am filing this under Other because Graffiti is not an option (but I hope you'll consider adding that!)

I'm happy to upload more photos but I think if the responsible department will just walk from Dohm Alley through the parking area, back of D'Angelos, up Tulane and the to the corner of Nassau and Vendeventer, you'll see that the CBD is attracting much more tagging. Some of the tags have been here for over 12 months.

The new crosswalk on the renovated section of Witherspoon Street is barely visible to drivers. It's just two thin white lines on light gray pavers, and the lines fade right into the background.

This is an accident waiting to happen. As a driver, it's hard to see the crosswalk; as a pedestrian, you get a false sense of security from the crosswalk, thinking drivers will be stopping for you when you cross.

The crosswalk should be painted in a more distinct color (maybe reflective yellow or orange), or it should have perpendicular lines running the length of it so it's blindingly obvious to drivers. It could also help to add a flashing pedestrian sign, like the one between Hinds Plaza and the Griggs Corner Parking Lot.

Additionally, the final parking space on the right (if you're heading northbound in a car) should be removed as parking - you can't see pedestrians approaching the crosswalk on that side of the road when a car is parked there.

Neighbor has had brush over storm drain for several weeks
  • Jefferson Rd & Mt Lucas Rd Princeton, NJ, 08540, USA - Princeton North

The intersection between Mount Lucas Road and Jefferson Road remains one of the most dangerous in the town. Drivers on Mount Lucas often assume that Jefferson Road has a four-way and continue right through the intersection even when crossing traffic is approaching. Jefferson Road is extremely wide here, so crossing it on foot takes muc longer than crossing an average residential road in Princeton. And on top of all that, traffic coming off State Road is still in highway mode when they go around the bed - it's going quickly and has little time to see and stop for pedestrians or crossing traffic.

Improvements really need to be made here. I think the simplest and cheapest way to fix it is to put a small island in the center of the crosswalk that goes across Jefferson, like the one recently installed at the intersection between Terhune Road and Mount Lucas Road. This would:

    (1) Give pedestrians a much shorter distance to cross before they're in the relative safety of the traffic island
    (2) Visually indicate to traffic coming off State Road that they've entered a residential area and will need to slow down to navigate the gap between the island and the sides of the road
    (3) Encourage Jefferson Road traffic to slow down when approaching the intersection

Making this a full four-way stop would also help. I live nearby and hear screeching brakes on a regular basis; accidents are frequent too. When I walk, I take longer routes to avoid crossing here.

Please make these changes. The Terhune Road / Mount Lucas Rd intersection is a great model.

180 John St Princeton, NJ, 08542, USA - Princeton
Two neighbors, the house under construction at 180 John, and the small apartment building at 30 Maclean, are pumping water onto the sidewalks. With night time temperatures below freezing, this is going to create a hazard for all the pedestrians. The water from 180 John is running down the sidewalk as far as 182-184 John, and then down the street quite a ways farther.
