During the morning and evening commute on the pole immediately to the right of the driver (in the northwest corner of the intersection) there is a solid red light AND a blinking yellow right arrow, along with a permanent No Right on Red sign hanging from the pole. It seems that the purpose of this yellow arrow is to indicate the driver can turn right with caution for the bike lane, however with the red light remaining illuminated, the driver is also told by the hanging sign that they cannot proceed right.

This results in a very large number of confused drivers per day who will sit through the entire traffic cycle waiting to turn right while not a single car can go through. The practical outcome of this is that cars behind them become so frustrated that they eventually swerve around the car in the front partially crossing over the double yellow into the northbound lane of Hampshire street. This creates an incredibly hazardous situation to drivers and pedestrians.

There are four racks that I assume were installed to replace the four racks that were removed from the sidewalk near the railing of Winthrop Park during the period when the roadway was blocked off by construction at 57 JFK Street. I can only guess that the work crew was mistaken when they located them on the sidewalk in front of our building.
This is a highly inappropriate location for these racks. I would like to have them removed at the earliest convenience. If that is not possible in the next couple of days I can remove them myself.
I also would like to point out that there is no demand for any bike racks in n this area. There are several dozen racks on Eliot Street only yards away that are rarely if ever used, and several dozen more at Charles Square and across the street from the Kennedy school that are also available and routinely not in use.
It's also not uncommon for people looking for bike parking to use the park fence, street posts or other structures to lock up bikes when there is not enough rack parking, but I have not seen anyone make use of these structures in the past several years, which is a good indicator that all bike parking demand has been met. I would ask that the racks be removed and that no racks be situated on Winthrop Street at this time.
Please let me know what is the best way for me to get these racks removed as soon as possible.

No turn on red sign has turned away from facing traffic turning right onto Hampshire St towards Somerville from the Inman Square intersection. I came within half a foot of being hit in the bike crosswalk by a driver who drove right through and turned right on red here at rush hour yesterday. Please fix the sign for the drivers who don’t know they’re not allowed to turn right on red to prevent more potential accidents.

I am standing in front of my condo building on Concord Avenue and I am very startled and frustrated by the traffic lining the outbound street between Huron Ave. and Craigie Street.

Currently, there is a solid line of cars, buses, delivery trucks, and construction vehicles up and down the street.

This is not a suitable traffic pattern and has an immediate negative impact on me and my neighbors on Concord Ave.

I am supportive of bicyclists and all modes of transport, but cannot believe that this is the best scenario for our fair Cambridge. This is not a good look for our city or the planning that goes into traffic upgrades / projects.

I hope that we can find an alternate solution that supports all.

    Respectfully submitted.

Unfair targeting to cyclists and citation blitz by Cambridge Police Officers in bike lane south of Porter Station on Mass Ave in an area where cars, delivery drivers, ride share vehicles are constantly and dangerously parked in bike lane on Mass Ave from Harvard Square to Porter Square, yet are never targeted by local police. I commute through this area every day for the past year and this misuse of community of public resources is as outrageous and misguided as it is an abuse of authority
against cyclists instead of drivers. In an area that is so hostile to cyclists and commuters on bicycles, how can this police action be justified?

3 more cars parked in the bike lane. Completely blocking the area.o
  • Huron Ave & Rc Kelley St Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - Neighborhood 9
The traffic on Huron going from Concord to Garden is now backed up for several hours a day (due to the change on Garden St). Signals at both intersections need to be adjusted so that the Concord and Huron intersection is not blocked by the line of cars (which makes people start maneuvering around and thats unsafe for pedestrians and bikers alike). And the lights at Huron and Garden need to be adjusted now that there are so many more cars approaching on Huron, it can take 4+ light cycles to get from Concord to Garden between 2 and 7 pm.

For several months now, the separated bike lane on Cambridge Street on the westbound side have been missing. This creates a huge gap in separation according to original design. In the section between Maple Street and Fayette Street, there are no flexposts. As a result, cars park in the buffer zone, creating a door-zone hazard. Please install the new flexposts as soon as possible.

Waiting for bus at Concord and Huron Traffic backed up in all directions But that isn't exactly what I am reporting

In 10 minutes I have observed seven adults on bicycles riding on the sidewalk on either side of Concord and five riding against traffic on the westbound side of Concord

I think these bicyclists have by their actions demonstrated that the Garden Street changes are not what they want They are also not what the neighborhood wants

Two more on the sidewalk as I write this And my bus is late, undoubtedly stuck in traffic the Garden Street changes caused

If the bikes don't use it and the neighbors don't want it let's get rid of this failed experiment

  • 139-145 Brattle St Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - West Cambridge
The City removed the pedestrian island at Brattle and Sparks about a month ago, but did not repaint the crosswalk stripes. I realize that bike lanes are slated to be installed, but what about the safety of pedestrians in the meantime? This intersection (which has bus stops at on each side of Brattle) is particularly busy at school pick-up and drop-off times. Note also: the intersection does not have a crossing guard. (It once did, but the City did not replace the guard after she retired.) Suggestion: The traffic department could at least provide cones with PEDESTRIAN CROSSING signs.

The inevitable thing happened, and truck drivers have figured out that they can just back over those plastic posts. We need durable separation if these bike lanes are going to remain safe and unobstructed.
