Re: Illegally parked vehicles Daily at Coffee Pot Bayou Park and boat ramp:
At the park and boat ramp, there are two areas for public parking - one row along the curb at the playground area (for park visitors), and the second row is reserved for, and marked 'Boat Trailers Only'. New ordinance violation signage was recently installed (and appreciated), but, unfortunately, even these signs are ignored daily, and drivers use these reserved spaces when the passenger vehicle parking row is full. Granted, there are a limited number of passenger vehicle spaces, but, there is always ample parking on 1st St N directly in front of the park.
I visit this park daily, and on most days, most or all boat trailer spaces are occupied by playground visitor vehicles. I regularly speak with drivers of boat trailers and other watercraft - these drivers are forced to leave the park in anger and frustration, as all boat trailer spots are illegally occupied. I've witnessed arguments and several near-fisticuffs in the parking lot regarding the frustration of boat owners. Police have been called to issue parking citations, but this is a temporary and very short-term measure, as can be witnessed daily when all of the spaces are again illegally occupied. I've contacted the Traffic and Parking office with no response. It would serve the public and stem the anger and frustration of boaters looking to legally park their trailers and boat racks, allowing them to use the boat ramp as intended. If the lot were regularly inspected by the Parking Enforcement Division and illegally-parked drivers were (consistently) cited, Park visitors would realize that the signage was in fact being enforced. In addition, boat trailer spaces at other City boat ramps are individually marked - each space is marked separately with signage, as is the case at the Demens Landing boat ramp area. The two suggestions above would help to abate this issue of illegal parking, and allow many boat owners to enjoy Coffee Pot Bayou Park as intended. Thanks for your consideration. SG

This sign is not allowed by state law. Since the city put it there, it is a traffic department issue not a police issue.

All city residents and park visitors have the right to use 58th Ave to make the safer right hand turn on 1st street instead of the unprotected left hand turn onto busy 62nd Ave.

Can the city and police department finally do something to discourage the massive amount of speeding and dangerous drinking that occurs on Snell Isle Boulevard? How many accidents have to happen to create action? Does someone have to die for the city to penalize the brazen disregard for the speed limit and public safety of this residential neighborhood? I beg you to do something!

Hi. First, thank you so much for acknowledging my recent post regarding this issue, however, the system wouldn't allow me to respond to the closing message in the string. I appreciate that the City is aware of this situation at Coffee Pot Park, but, please understand I was given the same information from the Parking & Transportation Section almost two years ago. This photo was taken on Sunday Jan 29th at 3PM. Unfortunately, another argument erupted when a boat owner couldn't park his trailer because the driver of an SUV refused to leave the parking space. I do appreciate that the Police occasionally issue parking tickets at this location, but, respectfully understand that what you see in the photo occurs virtually every day - always on the weekends, when boaters need the boat ramp. I respectfully request that the City consider utilizing their Parking Enforcement resources at this location, so that drivers will comply with the signage. Again, thank you very much for your consideration.

When the claw picked up hurricane debris in our yard, this got broken off. It's in the front yard near the fire hydrant and the water meter.

In July 2022 someone dumped a sofa on the City easement at the end of Connecticut between 4101 and 4049 Basyshore Blvd NE. This was reported twice; July 5th Request ID 12792543 and July 18th Request ID12858900. Both of these requests were closed by the City but the couch was never picked up.

This week somoene(s) set the couch on fire and pushed it into the water. Now the seawall is charred and the remains of the couch are in the water next the seawall. This should be removed.

Talked to the foreman and he told me call the police bc he never heard of not being able to park on sidewalk.
