San Leandro Public Works Department
San Leandro, CADear San Leandro Public Works Team,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention the concerning issue of illegal dumping that has been increasingly prevalent in our community, particularly along Maubert Avenue, Liberty Street, Foothill Blvd., Carolyn Street, Miramar Ave, and between 159th Ave. to 164th Ave., as well as the on/off ramp of 164th Ave to and from I-580 south toward Hayward. It is considered “Outside of the service area” according to this app.
As stated on your website, the Public Works Department is dedicated to maintaining the city's infrastructure and ensuring the wellbeing of our public spaces. Your commitment to exceptional customer service, quality workmanship, innovation, and operational efficiency is commendable, and I believe that tackling the issue of illegal dumping aligns with these values.
Illegal dumping not only degrades our neighborhood’s environment but also adversely affects the quality of life for many residents, particularly those who are part of the working class and may not have the financial means to pay for disposal services. It is essential that we work together to find effective solutions to this pressing problem.
I encourage you to explore initiatives like those discussed on the website https://zerowastedaniel.com/blogs/news/making-nyc-cleaner-zero-waste-daniel-adopts-a-spot. Such strategies can help foster community involvement and encourage residents to take an active role in keeping our streets clean. Implementing programs aimed at reducing waste and providing accessible disposal options would greatly benefit our community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing the Public Works Department take proactive steps to address illegal dumping in our neighborhoods. Together, we can enhance the quality of life for all residents in San Leandro.
Sincerely,
Teresa Delgado -
