City of Holyoke Zoning Officer, Building Department

Not sure of the address....lot of auto repairs work going on at this address, on side street, cars coming and going at night lots of disruption. Is this street zoned for mechanic shops?

Electrical in kitchen will cut out without any provocation from me, that is I will not be using an appliance, will go to use one and find out that half of my kitchen does not have power. When I go to the basement to try to flip the breaker it does not come back on. This is not an issue and all times. It will work usually, then out of nowhere it will be off and I am unable to get it to come back on. It seems that something outside of my apartment may be overloading the circuit but I cannot say for sure.

I have called the property management office and made multiple maintenance requests across the multiple property managers, about the issue pertaining to the cracks and water damage to my ceiling due to flooding of an above unit 2 years prior. There looks to be mold around the cracks now and I’m concerned for the health of my children (8months and 6years)and no one has yet to come even look at my concerns as far as the property managers or maintenance crew. Additionally my entire apartment seems to be on a single circuit because I can’t use any home appliances (ie. the microwave or stove) without the power going out. There is no access to the breakers for tenants so a maintenance request has to be made and then I have to wait for maintenance to reset them which frequently results in no power for anywhere from 8 hours up to 2 days meaning I can not feed my children and am relying on store bought lanterns to move about my house after sunset. I had spoken to the police earlier this week and they informed me I should file a complaint.

We continue to see trespassing and drug activity on the Masonic Temple property People are coming here at night to jump the fence and shoot up. According to zoning the fence cannot be made any higher This is a chronic ongoing problem .,..

Landlord not maintaining snow removal of sidewalks, driveways, and emergency exits for apartment buildings. The snow removal is lousy every winter but this year it is especially bad, with the maintenance person allowing piles of slush to ice up and be snowed over repeatedly. Particularly concerned with the ice luge outside my back door (emergency exit) and the parking lot filled with snowed over, iced-up slush; a huge safety hazard for residents. What can tenants do about this when we are afraid of retaliation from the landlord? Snow removal is specified in lease.

I'm continuing to have issues, since January 2024, after already filing a complaint with the Holyoke Board of Health at the unit I'm renting. I've reached out to my landlord numerous times regarding the water being yellow, the pipes won't drain in the bathroom or the kitchen, after gallons of Draino being used for over 6 months' time, there's a mouse and bird infestation throughout the building, and most recently over the past 2 months the power has been turning off multiple times a day. The landlord's response to the power outages is to direct me to the braker box and force the power on, over and over again. The electrical box makes loud noises when the flip is switched back and I'm afraid to keep switching it, even though if I don't, I'll stay without power. He claims to have hired an electrician but as of this evening my power keeps going out. His response to tonight's outage was my AC is defective! It's hot, I have 2 kids and there's no good reason why I can't run an AC unit that's less than 6,000 BTU. He was supposed to provide some type of paperwork to the health department showing he hired an exterminator for the pests, but I was told by Polo Delgado that he is no longer being cooperative and that I should seek legal help.

The elevator has not been operational for 3 months. We complained to the office and were told it might not be operational until the end of December. Also, the lights for the porch stairwells have been off for a whole week, and the doorbell hasn't been working for months, too.

In the building on 3 laurel st apt #2L, there are people with a German Shepherd. It's skinny and I hear the people beating on the dog constantly. They also leave the dog on the apartment porch for hours at a time, it's rarely ever inside and never gets walked. Please help this poor dog.

During a walk today we noticed that this apartment has missing/damaged railings
