Sidewalk - Damage AcknowledgedLake Merritt Blvd Oakland, CA, 94607, USA - Civic Center
Pedestrian and Bike Access: SIDEWALK/Underpass on Lakeshore Ave/Lake Merritt/ access to Laney College COMPLETELY BLOCKED on both sides by self made homeless camp. They’ve constructed BARRIERS.
The PURPOSE of these underpass sidewalks at design and build was/ is SAFETY so that Peds and Bikes can pass safely to/from Lake area- and NOT have to ride or walk across Lakeshore Ave, which is like a SUPER HIGHWAY in that busy stretch near Int’l, E.14th, the Courthouse…Last six months, because homeless people have taken the underpass sidewalks completely over, we have to cross the busy street with traffic… I almost got hit on Monday night, by a car.
A year, two years ago, I could ride my bike through this underpass and come out safely by Laney College. No more. Now that the US Supreme Court has decided the GRANTS PASS case, City MUST CLEAR OUT this camp and provide the sidewalk access back to the public.
CITY of OAKLAND You are on Notice of a Dangerous Condition you are allowing/enabling. -
Homeless Encampment Acknowledged900 Fallon St Oakland CA 94607, United States - Peralta-LaneyWatching my city slowly degrade. I am to the point of moving. This is obscene. I have lived here for 20 years and this is the worst I’ve ever seen it. All the public spaces are filthy. This is no place to live.

Homeless Encampment AcknowledgedAthol Plaza Park Oakland CA 94606, United States - MerrittThe City worked so hard to return Athol Plaza to public use. It was one big encampment for years. Now this guy, who camped out for months next to Lake Merritt and the Oakland Museum, has decided to colonize another public park. Please don't let this happen. Please don't take this away from the neighborhood.

Homeless Encampment AcknowledgedLakeshore Ave Oakland, CA, 94607, USA - Civic CenterJust a few people unhoused live here, but they have taken up to blocking 100% of the Lake Merritt path, rendering it unusable for the hundreds of thousands of people in the area for over a year. They have used a wood board to block the path so the public can no longer use it. They throw garbage in the lake and have damaged the bridge lighting system. This encampment has been here for many years, but the encampment has only decided to cuff off 100% access to the path since last summer. Please remove this encampment and open up the trail again. It’s a huge nuisance, and I would like to access Laney, Brooklyn Basin, and Jack London Square again and have less garbage in the lake.
