Traffic Signal Archived211 Manning Drive Chapel Hill, North Carolina - Chapel HillThe Pedestrian lights indicating you can cross Manning Drive are white with the man walking. However, drivers entering the intersection to make a left turn have a green light. They do not look for pedestrians, only other cars. Why can't all the auto traffic lights be red while the pedestrian lights are white? I have almost been hit 3 times at this intersection and the Paul Hardin/Manning intersection. The last time was Monday at 2:30pm. It is very dangerous for students and employees. Thanks, Ann

Parking - Other Archived215 Henderson St Chapel Hill, NC, 27514, USA - Chapel HillAs you can see, parked cars block sight lines of drivers at stop sign at North St/Henderson St intersction. This is an extremely dangerous intersection. Two parking spaces nearest the intersection need to be removed to provide safe visibility. Cars and scooters approach on Henderson at high speeds and cut the corner. They are often impossible to see due to parked cars.

Parking ordinance violation Archived218 Vance St Chapel Hill, NC 27516, USA - Chapel HillViolation of Chapel Hill's Land Use Management Ordinance is resulting in cars blocking sidewalk, causing blockage and possible safety hazard to passing pedestrians and bikers. Current parking configuration violates town LUMO, which restricts parking and drive areas to 40 percent of the front yard area and requires that the area be covered with all-weather surface or gravel.

Pothole ArchivedCameron Ave & Ransom St Chapel Hill, North Carolina - Chapel HillThere is a pothole and eroding pavement in the middle of the bikelane on eastbound Cameron Ave. Thousands (yes, thousands, I couldn't believe that figure either) of cyclists use this bike lane everyday, and this pothole causes cyclists to swerve into the vehicular lane. This is especially dangerous during morning commute. Please provide equitable road repair and fill this in. Thanks!

Traffic Safety/Miscellaneous Archived313 N Estes Dr Chapel Hill, NC, 27514, USA - Chapel HillThere is large, long-term construction project happening on N. Estes Drive in the walk zone for 2 public schools. The cones & orange netting that attempt to provide a safe walkway for kids and parents are not being maintained by the construction crew. These cones and netting need to be kept in place as some attempt to provide for safe passage of kids entering Estes Hills Elementary School. The traffic light at Estes/Caswell is the particular location. There is no longer any barrier between opposing traffic on Caswell waiting to turn left onto N. Estes Drive. I myself and other neighbors have been attempting to maintain this area but that is not reasonable or appropriate for a parent with a young child while already dodging confused traffic.

Traffic Safety/Miscellaneous Archived1610-1618 E Franklin St Chapel Hill, NC, 27514, USA - Chapel Hill
Traffic traveling eastbound (away from downtown Chapel Hill) on E. Franklin Street do not get a blinking yellow left turn arrow to turn onto N. Elliott Road when there is a green light for both directions of Franklin Street at this intersection.
Often, there are large gaps in traffic heading westbound (towards downtown Chapel Hill), so there is no safety reason why a blinking yellow arrow for a left hand turn should not be allowed.
Additionally, at the same intersection, the light is configured to offer a blinking left hand turn arrow for those making a left hand turn onto S. Elliott Road while traveling westbound on E. Franklin Street. It doesn’t make sense why a blinking left hand arrow would be configured in one direction and not the other.
