  • 951 N. Indian Creek Drive Clarkston, GA - Clarkston

    Need assistance to get DeKalb County to repair fence & secure gate behind Clarkston Library on Indian Creek Drive. Vandals are coming through the gate & fence and entering the Clarkston Community Center….destroying vegetable gardens and other projects made by the local residents. This past week vandals destroyed a patch of carrots grown by some children!!

    The Center locks all gate access to the field during the evenings, weekends & holidays, however, until this fence is secured, the problem will persist. The Clarkston Chief of Police highly recommends “razor wire” in this area to prevent future destruction of the fence.

    If the department responsible for county property would like to meet with me to review and discuss, my email is sarawlins@bellsouth.net . Prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated before the gardeners begin planting in early March.

    PS: once the fences are repaired, the community residents will place warning signs on the gate & fence to discourage entrance.

    The owners of this property have blocked access to the fire hydrant with a fence. Also, people are parking illegally in front of hydrant. Need a sign to remind people to not block the hydrant in this area.

    The owner, Lynne Whitaker, of #3714 & #3724 E Ponce de Leon is not maintaining her rental properties. Several neighbors have contacted her about the violation, but she continues to ignore the problem.

    Her properties are ghettos compared to the well kept surrounding homes on Verdi Way & Milam Circle, so there is no excuse for her neglect.

    The attached picture is the sidewalk in front of #3714 which is unsafe for pedestrians. When it becomes impassable, area residents prune back which isn't right. Ms. Whitaker needs to maintain her own property like everyone else.

    If DeKalb Code Enforcement could notify this woman of her violation, it would be greatly appreciated. This is my 2nd or 3rd request, so immediate action would be preferable. If an email to Mr. Kellum or Mr. Silver would be best to ensure quick action, please let me know.

    If there is an Ambassador in our area, I will be glad to meet with them to discuss the situation.

    There is obviously a tree branch pushing up the pavement in front of this house that is getting worse. I reported this problem last year or so and never received any response.

    Some day an car/van/truck axle will break which may be a good lawsuit against the county.

    As you can tell from the picture, it is almost as tall as a bottle of wine.

    872 Verdi Way Clarkston, Georgia - Scottdale
    This year, the county repaired leaking drainage pipes under the street a couple of yards from this new sinkhole. The problem must have been more wide-spread. This new sinkhole is right in front of a drainage cover. In addition to fixing this, it would be advisable to do a visual inspection of all 3 streets in our neighborhood. Similar sinkholes have started on other parts of these streets. The address I gave is one of the houses in front of the current sinkhole. The sinkhole is more than a yard wide in circumference, with a depth that is increasing.

    On Melrose Dr. in Clarkston, about 3 houses down from the corner of Melrose and Williams, there are 2 potholes about a foot deep, one on each side of the road. It's difficult to avoid both.
  • 555 North Indian Creek Drive Clarkston, GA - DeKalb County
    The Parking Lot behind the James R. Hallford Stadium located at the GA Perimeter College-Clarkston Campus site is horrific on vehicles. DeKalb School buses shuttle students daily from this parking lot and year after year worthless patchwork has been done but no real major repairs on the repavement of the lot used by school buses and cars. Multiple potholes cover the lot and uneven pavement is throughout. Makes for a very rough ride everyday and hard on buses and personal vehicles that have to let the children out at the parking lot every morning and pick them up. Can overall repavement project be done? This could have easily been done over the summer when there was less us of the parking lot. I am sure GPC Stadium goers would appreciate a fix as well. It can be especially dangerous in bad weather and ice storms.

    This neighborhood Brannon Hills has potholes everywhere from the entrance to the back of the neighborhood it is located not far from elementary, school high school and college GPC an GPTC they are all walkable distances its even across Dekalb County School shuttle busses drop off , in clarkston ... It's not far from the grocery store the Main St., next to it is Memorial Drive .... All I'm asking is fix the neighborhood I have been reporting issues for 3 years now since I lived here 10 years please vote yes and help me I'm only 18yr

    dilapidated parking lot used for buses to gather and re-disperse students to congregate school choice school buses, as well as parent drop for school choice students. too many pot holes to speak of....curbs we must drive over in the car pool circle to drop students. oh and the Dead tree that is an acceptable risk to our children and the workers forced to work there in the mornings starting at 6am till mid morning and the afternoon stating at 2:50pm.
