Hempstead Mayor

Three weeks ago, with no explanation for their action, the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter dismissed their workers and volunteers that, among other duties, found homes for many of the very adoptable animals that pass through their shelter. The two people on the payroll were transferred to other Town departments; the volunteers were just told not to return.

I know firsthand how wonderful so many dogs that are given up for mostly pathetic reasons, can be. I took a 7 year old Chihuahua into my home from there and he is surely the most perfect creature ever.

This Tuesday, November 9th, the town of Hempstead is holding their monthly meeting during which people are allowed, at the end of this meeting, to speak up about any issue of serious concern. Many of us in the rescue community plan to use our allotted 2 minutes at the end of the meeting to plead for the return of these wonderful people whose efforts saved countless lives, every day.

Why in the world would this shelter wish not to save dogs when such rescues have been made so easy for them. What excuse can there possibly be for choosing to put these very adoptable animals down, instead of allowing them to go to certified rescue groups that will find them wonderful second chances at life.

We need you there for support and help in spreading the word about this situation. We need your amazing ability to change inconceivable wrongs to rights so that we can continue to save lives.

PLEASE FIX THEM OR DO OVER THE ROAD,THE ROAD NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED NOT JUST FILLED IN.

from the souther state parkway over pass to booth street on long beach road its like driving 5 blocks through holes deep in the ground.

I lost count how many there are...you can't even dodge them anymore...it's so bad that I take the next street and drive back to my apartment entrance. Somebody please help before my car gets swallowed up tomorrow :P

NUMEROUS CALLS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE VILLAGE OF HEMPSTEAD SINCE OCTOBER 2016, THE VILLAGE OF HEMPSTEAD CLAIMS THERE IS A "HUGE LIST". EVERY DAY CARS ARE BEING DAMAGED BY THIS HUGE POT HOLE.

Currently there is a left turn arrown for the West Bound (W/B) traffic on Fulton Ave (Hempstead Tpke) at the intersection of N. Franklin Ave. however there is NO turn lane for vehicles making the left turn. If any W/B vehicle, other than the 1st vehicle stopped at the light, is making a left turn they are not able to do so until the next cycle due to the East bound traffic. This causes W/B traffic in the left lane to back up almost the full length of the block and impatient drivers to make sudden unsafe lane changes into the right lane. The condition can be easily fixed by adding a left turn lane for W/B traffic, there is sufficient room to accomplish this if 3-4 parking spaces are eliminated on either the East or West Bound side.

The entire street of Main Street, the main artrey in the town of Hempstead, to the major LIRR/Bus Terminal. Please fix this street. It's a shame visitors entering this area is presented with this horrible STREET!

On the corner of Hilbert and Fulton ave the light is being delayed for more than 10 minutes for the last 3 days which poses a safety for drivers as well as pedestrians. I called the villages of Hempstead . Thrust transferred me to the police to report it which I did. 30 minutes ago on my way to gym, the problem still exists. Please advise.

Homeowners in Garden City on Pine Street and Garden Street are being forced to pay thousands of dollars in fees for sidewalks and aprons replacements. Only given 30 days to get permit or village will do repairs then put leans on homeowner to pay thousands for the repairs.
