Notified About

  • Wooster Sq New Haven, CT - Wooster Square
Yet another 8 cars (at least) in the Wooster Square area have been broken into with crow bars early in the morning of 11/12/10. NHPD were on scene as at least 2 perpetrators were witnessed fleeing the area. The Wooster Square area has been under siege by this rash of car break-ins over the past several months. Enhanced NHPD patrols are needed between 12a and 5a to catch the thieves/vandals in the act. Countless vehicles have been hit in the past 3 weeks, despite no visible items or other items of value in the cars.

I am so angry I can hardly compose this message.

Another parking ban! Nothing has been cleaned in front of my house since the first snow storm a month ago. The situation is untenable and these bans and our exorbitant taxes add insult to injury.

Foster Street between Lawrence and Cottage will soon have no parking spaces on the odd side of the street.
I have had to back up on both Lawrence and Foster to allow Yale transit to use streets that are not appropriate in the best of times and ridiculous in the present snow clogged conditions.

Why? Because the bans are ignored and not enforced. Because the plows don't show up during a WEEK LONG
ban. Because neighbors plow all their yard snow into the street. Because unwise choices are made as to which streets get priority. Because even the priority streets don't get plowed. Because the city allows Gigantic Yake buses access to streets laid out to accommodate horse and buggy.

  • 228 Elm St New Haven, CT - Downtown

Whenever it rains, a puddle forms in the roadway on Elm Street at the the southwest corner with High Street (right in the crosswalk). I believe the puddle results from a depression in the roadway that prevents the water from draining into the nearby storm drains. The puddle is large and right near where people must stand while waiting to cross the street. When drivers (especially buses, who have little room to maneuver) drive right through the puddle, they send up a wall of mucky water that splashes all over pedestrians.

DPW, as soon as the weather dries out, could you please layer on a few more inches of asphalt here to prevent this puddle from developing in the future? Thanks!

"Sharp has instructed his officers to take your visible valuables from your car before the bad guys do, making use of a search warrant exception that allows them to do it."

This is outrageous. How about the police concentrate on catching the criminals breaking in to cars? Violating our right to privacy, making us go through an ordeal in order to get our own property back, chastising us like children, and potentially selling our illegaly confiscated property for profit? Really?

  • 777 Chapel Street New Haven, CT 06510, USA - 770 Chapel Big
If you are the owner of this vehicle your car was just broken into. I called the Nhpd and pursued the individual but the it took too long for non emergency to pick up and I was told not to follow by the time they got on the phone. The man was last seen headed up crown towards orange carrying a duffle bag. Sorry that I could not have helped to catch him,
  • 103 Linden Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
A large Puddle of water that has been sitting for over three weeks, and awful, terrible smell, bugs attractive, health hazard!
  • 709 Townsend Ave New Haven, CT - East Shore

Reckless, noisy clowns on Quads/ATV's (along with snowmobile's in the winter) have also been riding illegally, plaguing the East Shore section of New Haven for years. Blasting up & down Townsend Ave, tearing up Black Rock Fort area etc.

Advance warning for NHPD; they go crazy, blaring past the Townsend mansion just about EVERY evening after a snow storm, zig zagging & sliding across the centerline towards oncoming traffic, dangerously passing and cutting off cars etc.

We want these uninsured deadly missiles stopped!

  • Church And Elm New Haven, CT - Town_Green
9:50 AM Friday. Car heading southeast on Elm blows right through red light. Almost knocks me over in crosswalk. Police SUV (665-NH) does nothing when I motion that the car is coming. Traffic stopped. Office had a clear shot at the offender...great job...only tells us that tickets are written during blitzes.
  • 908 State Street New Haven CT 06511 - Bishop-Hine
This drain was cleaned with the others on State Street but water is still standing to the brim after yesterday's rain.
There must be a clog in the line.

Trying to catch a skunk in a Have-a-Heart trap, I caught a possum instead. Thoughts about what to with him (her?)
  • 92 138 Elm St New Haven, CT 06510, USA - Downtown

Many cities are beginning to convert the rooftops of their municipal buildings into "green roofs" to reduce energy use, save money, reduce storm water run-off, improve air quality, provide a tranquil refuge for residents, and much more.

Milwaukee has begun work on the roof of it's public library:

  • Harrison St New Haven, CT - Westville
The parking lane of Harrison St between whalley and fountain is normally used as parking for the Mitchell library, the doctor's office, the post office, the nursery school and some houses/apartments. After the storm, there was no attempt to plow the parking lane so it is full of snow from the curb to 4 ft into the street in most places. No safe street parking is available. This is hazardous and frustrating to many.
