  • 628 Denver Avenue Lansing, MI - Lansing
The power has been out on Denver Avenue in S. Lansing between Grant and Lyons since this past weekend (LBWL service area). I'd heard a rumor that BWL crews were checking this site for outage reports and wanted to add this just in case. :) If any crews are reading this, thank you for all of your hard work--it is very much appreciated!
  • Pothole Open
4915 Belle Chasse Blvd. Lansing, Michigan - Lansing

A section of Beau Jardin runs through our apartment community and the pothole situation is abhorrent; we have several that are at least 6" deep and 12" in diameter, causing a public relations nightmare for our leasing office. Any attention that can be paid to this matter is greatly appreciated!

    Respectfully,

  • 512 E Willard Ave Lansing Charter Township, MI 48910, USA - Lansing
He has way too many vehicles on this lot. What is so disturbing is this is the FIRST house..the ENTRYWAY to our neighborhood and this "yard" using the term loosely is appalling.
  • 217 N. Jenison Lansing, MI - Lansing
House has been apparently abandoned since summer. At which time the home owner left two large dogs inside for 6 weeks, unattended without airconditioning in 100 degree weather. The dogs have been removed. However, the house is violating multiple codes. There is a large broken window on the north end of the house, there is no secure closure on this window. There are tires piled up in the driveway. There are stains on the front of the house dripping down the white siding. The BWL has turned off power to the house. There is trash in the backyard (trampolines, debris, etc). Since the house is apparently vacant, it was used during a B&E in which the thiefs hid their bicycles in the backyard to hop a fence and gain entry into the backyard of the house where they broke in.
  • 1126 S Grand Ave Lansing, MI 48910, USA - Lansing
There are two large dogs that live in the upstairs apartment at the house at 1126 S Grand. They bark and bark and howl and howl for hours at a time every single night or when anyone is in the parking lot of the riverview church. They never stop! It is so loud my husband and I can't enjoy tv watching at night and sometimes they wake my kids up. I won't let my kids play in the back yard sometimes fearing they might make the dogs start howling. I've called the police several times - they came once but every other time they say they can't do anything because the owner isn't there. The owner of the dogs leaves them alone for hours and hours sometimes overnight and they never stop barking and howling! The owner of the property is a real slum lord so I can't imagine the inside of the apartment is even suitable for dogs, let alone humans. But something needs to be done about this so I can enjoy my home again!

Here is the image folder, you can see when they were taken and descriptions of the photos:

This dumpster is located in-between properties at 1504 and 1510 Michigan Avenue. It has been seen at this location directly behind the CATA bus stop for at least the last 6 months before starting to document it, where I have often seen a man emptying a hauling trailer contents into it. The garbage goes everywhere, he is careless and it is disgusting. Garbage and appliances are often on the side, around, and behind the dumpster.

It appears to be nothing but a trash hauling operation located on Michigan Avenue. These are pictures taken from the CATA bus stop directly in front of it, and the same view you will see from the street. Found on Google Maps, an image before the CATA bus station was moved from the front of the Heart Center with the dumpster located in the pictures: http://goo.gl/maps/TCCXR

Since there is no drive located where the garbage dump is located, the truck must drive over the curb to empty the dumpster. It is destroying the sidewalk. Is the owner going to pay to repave the sidewalk he is destroying, or the taxpayers?

The CATA bus stop was moved in 2012, so this has been going on for almost three years at least, probably longer. A garbage dump leading up to the capitol of Michigan is probably not the best image for Lansing to be putting forth. Reported to city council member through email on 7/15/13. Premise inspector sent out afternoon of 7/17/13. That is the last I have heard. New pictures added since.

I think it's time this is removed from the street leading up to our capital.

  • 1409 W. Kalamazoo St Lansing, Michigan - Lansing

The residential home located at 1409 W. Kalamazoo St. has been unoccupied for several years. The house was bank owned and eventually purchased. The current owners began working on the house, but have ceased work multiple times. The most recent work commenced late last summer/early fall and entailed digging a trench on the west side of the house to replace the foundation. The work has not been completed. There has been debris covering the front yard since then, as well as the gaping pit running along the side of the house, which is a safety hazard. Approximately a week ago an orange fence went up around the front yard to deter people/animals, etc. from entering. However, this morning I heard voices outside and looked out the window to find two children climbing in the trench along the house. I have attached two images to which show the children, the approximate depth of the trench, and in one photo you can get an idea of the amount of debris in the front yard. This is by no means an attempt to get these children or any child in trouble. I am just concerned for a curious child's safety. The condition of this home is atrocious and a safety risk to the neighborhood. I request that further action be taken to clean up the property and to hold the current owner responsible.

    Thank you,
    Maureen Nelson

  • Kalamazoo Street Lansing, Michigan - Lansing
The Kalamazoo bike lane (as I imagine are all the bike lanes and shoulders within the City) is extremely dangerous right now. It is filled with a thick accumulation of dirt, glass, and other debris (see photo). The bottom of the downhill eastbound stretch right in front of Hunter Park is especially dangerous as it has collected all the debris from the street over the entire winter. Riding over that stretch at higher speeds from going downhill is extremely hazardous, especially because the parallel roadway right through there is laden with deep pot holes. Scary combination, especially if are not aware of the hazard before descending down the hill. I notified the traffic department about this problem area almost a month ago. Hopefully you can get out there to have it cleaned up right away. With today as the first day of Bike Month, it certainly would be appropriate and appreciated to sweep all the bike lanes/shoulders throughout the City. Thanks for looking into this.
