Notified About

  • 409-423 Appleton St Holyoke, Massachusetts - Holyoke

It is not zoned for parking.

The lot is a mess and an eyesore as it is uneven and with debris strewn about.

There are currently nine cars parked on the lot illegally despite empty spaces on street and in the YMCA lot.

    Wall is collapsing. See photo.

I spoke with neighbors who have had a pet die under a collapsed wooden structure, have called the City to secure the fence that had been falling down, etc. I'm thankful (the neighbors are, too) that the fence is now back up, but it actually looks pretty shaky still.

This is now a City-owned property.Major steps should be taken to prevent this building from completely deteriorating. Smaller amounts of $ spent now will perhaps prevent a multi-million-dollar demolition later. Or, better yet, work done NOW will make this property more attractive to potential buyers as there is an RFP out on it.

    This dumpster is overflowing.
  • 185 Pine St Holyoke, Massachusetts - Holyoke
This building is being neglected by its owner. It is completely unsecured. The boarded up door opens. None of the screws are secured. Neighbors recently cleaned up behind this building and found many needles. There are several tree stumps that someone has moved from the city property across the alleyway to create a hiding place back there. It would be great if the city could get this building properly secured and also remove the very large tree stumps. I don't know how someone moved them because they were too large for us neighbors to get them back to the city property where they used to be.

Wall in the front of this property (1137-1139 Dwight St.) has fallen and is blocking the sidewalk. Please make sure the owner of this property addresses this issue ASAP.
    Thank you,

    Obstruction on sidewalk...again...

Once again, this property owner is being negligent and blocking the sidewalk in front of the property with debris from the wall in the front. This is unacceptable and unsafe. Please address this issue with the property owner ASAP and determine if fines are appropriate at this time.

    Thanks,

    Councilor Valentin

The City Council section of the City website (that shows all the committees and times they meet etc.) Is currently redirecting to an agenda from April (see photo). In addition to this, the agenda section is not functional and doesn't display any agendas. I have tried the website with multiple browsers and these problems happened with all of them amd several people have told me they have the same problem. I have sent the address listed for tech support emails as far back as March and received no reply other than an automatic email.
  • 238 Cabot Street Holyoke, Massachusetts - Holyoke
Watching seniors trying to navigate the Wistariahurst sidewalks over the weekend was terrifying. There was ice all over the sidewalks and interior walkways.
  • 290 Linden Street Holyoke, MA 01040, USA - Holyoke
There is about 2 feet of snow between the street and the curb. Given how narrow the streets become during the winter, could this please be plowed better?
  • 422 Appleton Street Holyoke, Massachusetts - Holyoke
The bulbs burned out 2 or 3 days ago and there have been at least 3 large accidents so far. This is the same intersection as the YMCA and there is a small park on the corner as well. I worry about someone being seriously injured or killed. It would be very easy for someone from HPD/DPW/HFD to bring a stop sign and place it on the side of the street closet to Oak and prevent any more damage/injuries/ and even the potential for loss of life. Several people have been taken off in stretchers already. And, as a nearby resident, I've heard several near accidents as well with cars screeching and careening, but not crashing. Please either fix the signal or at least set up a no-parking barrier (for visibility) near the corner and put a stop sign up. I know there are many priorities and needs in the city, but this is a situation where the city may actually be responsible for a death or serious injury if it doesn't act quickly.

  • 979 Dwight Street Holyoke, Massachusetts - Holyoke
There are 6 small dogs in the fenced backyard at 979 Dwight Street and a cardboard sign leaning against the jersey barrier that says 'Puppies $60'. I believe having more than 4 dogs is a code violation? Can you confirm that please? And a question: Does someone need a license to sell animals in the city? Thanks for your help!
