Northeast arm of Lake Merritt

Notified About

  • Lakeshore Avenue And The Cleveland Cascade Oakland, CA - Lake Merritt
As with other pedestrian crosswalks in our community, this one at the Cleveland Cascade has no lighting to alert drivers that someone is crossing. I recently was almost hit when a driver began to brake as I approached and then accelerated through the crosswalk, narrowly missing me just as I stepped out into his or her path. This crosswalk needs the same blinking light system used in other area crosswalks.

Sofas, tents, stuff at Lake Merritt Park located under Oak trees along lake near Bellvue and Stanton.
Shocking to see such this encampment in the park. Oakland residents have paid to beautify our lake and we don't want it to become a messy homeless encampment.
  • 2205 Lakeshore Avenue Oakland, California - Lake Merritt
This neighborhood is in dire need of restroom facilities in this location. There are NO restrooms in the park between the library and the amphitheater locations in the Lake Merritt Park area. Crowds gathering on weekends for the past several weeks are making a negative impact on neighborhood yards (pubic urination) and the bathroom of Leaning Tower of Haddon Hill Pizza one block away. LT has one toilet for patrons only. With heavy use of the Park on weekends, attendees are making aggressive and hostile demands to use this bathroom and when refused, the owner has been assaulted, there is public urination outside the restaurant and business has gotten negative Yelp reviews. City of Oakland HELP resolve this problem before next weekend with Porta-potties at least, and make plans for another public restroom in this location. Thank you (from many concerned neighbors)

There has been a 2 person (2 tents) homeless encampment in Lakeside Park for many weeks now. It was not a big nuisance until they started accumulating a lot of stuff and it got out of hand. There appears to be appliances, grills, bikes, chairs, etc. They have gotten in the way of where children are playing and it continues to grow.

Many people BBQ and drink around Lake Merritt now, hundreds of them directly in front of our building. I don't mind people enjoying themselves, but they have taken to peeing by the semi-secluded entrances to our building for lack of public facilities. If they are going to be allowed to grill and drink, then there should at least be some regulation or facilities to prevent the abuse of our property (which now always smells strongly of urine).

Graffiti on the rooftop of Sprint Store in Lakeshore needs to be removed. It makes Grand Lake ghetto!

Walking around the Lake Merritt path, two scooter riders driving a top speed smashed right into a jogger who was knocked directly into me and my small dog!! Jogger and I were knocked violently to the ground and I am bruised and scraped. Fortunately I am OK but this could have been much worse. Someone easily could have been knocked onto the rocks in the shallow lake or ended up with broken bones. PLEASE BAN SCOOTERS FROM THE LAKE MERRITT TRAIL!!! CITIZENS SHOULD NOT BE IN DANGER WHEN OUT FOR A SUNDAY STROLL!
