Notified About

  • 2-16 Mount Carmel Avenue Hamden Connecticut - Hamden
Alot of time and money seemed to be spent a couple of years ago completely re-engineering this intersection, and it's great that there's a dedicated left turn signal for motor vehicle drivers making a left (while heading south on Rt 10 - Whitney Ave) onto Mt Carmel Ave (heading east). The problem is with all that redesigning no one ever thought to put in a signal that recognizes cyclists. If you get stuck at that light without a car behind you to signal the dedicated left turn the "on demand" signal never changes, and you get stranded in the middle of a fast, busy, dangerous state road. I should point out that this is a heavily used cyclist route and is part of many rides in the greater New Haven area. Can we please install new technology--or properly calibrate the existing infrastructure-- so that it will sense lone cyclists waiting at this left turn signal. Thank you. (Note: a quick Google search brings up several relevant articles, such as this one: http://www.phred.org/~josh/bike/SignalDetection.html)

Whitney Avenue Hamden, CT - Hamden
We need a bike lane from Hamden to New Haven. Whitney Avenue is one of the most dangerous roads to ride on, however drivers should not blame cyclists, but the lack of secured paths for cyclists. No rider in their right mind wants to negotiate space with vehicles that can kills us..
  • 482-520 Putnam Ave Hamden, CT 06514, USA - Hamden
A turn lane for Stop&Shop is needed to allow traffic to flow onto Putnam ave and stop backing up onto Dixwell ave.
  • 2356 Dixwell Ave Hamden, CT - Hamden

I've been at this intersection in the last few weeks and people run the light nearly 5 seconds after a different light turns green.

Without proper control, accidents are more likely than ever. I recommend implementing photo enforcement for this light.

  • Skiff St. Hamden, CT 06514, USA - Hamden
At 6:25 today (Mon. 8/9) I watched as two teen girls cleaned their car out the side window as they waited for the Farmington Canal trail light to change. I asked what they were doing and the driver asked, "What's it to you?" Well, it's my town. So, if you see these disgusting girls in their red chrysler sedan (CT plates # 299-_ _ _) please help keep their trash where it belongs.
  • 2210 Dixwell Ave Hamden, CT 06514 - Hamden
There are no bicycle racks at the Walmart, or at most of the other stores on this shopping plaza, despite the fact that it is a major destination for regional shopping. Anyone know who manages Hamden Plaza?

  • 1349 Dixwell Ave Hamden, CT 06514, USA - Hamden
Just before midnight as I was walking home from my second job I watched a Hamden Police officer come flying out of the driveway of Point after trying to turn left onto dixwell, he lost control of his car and slammed into a telephone pole and ended up stopping on the opposite side of dixwell down by subway. Rendering his car undrivable. Luckily he did not hit any people walking on the sidewalk. Nightly you can see the Hamden Police flying up and down dixwell at high rates of speed, sometimes with their lights on and often times not. It is only a matter of time that something more serious happens.

Please repaint intersection lanes coming off x60

Big problem for those who don't know the rules of the two left lanes getting off CT15 on exit 60. MANY times I have almost been hit from the middle lane trying to come into my far left lane during the left turn onto Dixwell. The dotted line is barely visable!

  • 2030-2038 Dixwell Ave Hamden, CT 06514, USA - Hamden
Impossible to exit from Hamden High on to Dixwell/Connolly Pkwy esp. in AM - need green arrow from HHS driveway to go left (North) on Dixwell and longer green, intersection gets blocked and people run the red; dangerous!!
