    Increased patrols would be greatly welcomed!

    I drive up and down E. Martin at least twice a day while taking kids to school, and I'm always shocked at the level of what is clearly illicit activity - drugs, prostitution, etc. - during broad daylight. The front steps of the church at 725 E. Martin is a great example of that. How/why is RPD allowing this to go on - I NEVER see a police car even remotely close by?!?!

    The area around the neighboring mini-mart was a real focus of RPD attention several years ago with their mobile unit, etc., and it really made a positive difference. But, with a total lack of attention, the area is sliding in the absolute wrong direction.

    What does the average citizen, who is working so hard to help stabilize the area, have to do to get some support from RPD in the form of some regular bodily presence?

    Myself and others believe that a 4 way stop sign should be at intersections E. Davie and Haywood, and E. Davie and Swain. Drivers routinely speed through here with many children at play. there is a hill at E. Davie and Swain that blocks visibility to the other side of the hill. I live at 620 E. Davie and have a baby that should soon feel safe about crossing the street when the time comes as well as me, the parent. Please advise what to do if I need to do more work to make this happen.

    Unsafe, vacant property. This property has been in this condition for 4+ years. It's partially constructed and falling apart with Columns bowing under weight of the house. It's dangerous and with such a long history if vacancy, it attracts foot traffic, drug usage, litter and loitering. It's been diminishing the value of surrounding properties and neighborhood quality of life for years. It's unsafe and a terrible eyesore in what is trying to become a thriving, safe downtown neighborhood. The property would be better as an empty lot and after 4 years, the structure is clearly not being completed. It would never pass a structural inspection at this point.

    Please, please, for the sake of Raleigh's growing reputation and the people who actually call this neighborhood home, please do something about this property!

    I have seen a dog killed and several accidents on E Hargett between East and Tarboro in my six years here. Stop signs at Swain and Hargett and Camden and Hargett will save lives.

    The landlord who owns the house next to me 801 E Davie rented to tenants a few wks ago who are moving hookers along this street (just witnessed a fight among them in front of the house) - not sure house is code compliant, it was boarded up for months and not renovated
  • 824 East Hargett Street Raleigh, North Carolina - South Central
    The owners of the vacant lot at 824 E Hargett St. pulled out some trees and have left the stumps, roots, and other yard waste sitting on the lot for almost two months. The holes from the root balls are collecting trash, and creating areas for mud and mosquitoes to flourish. It is in violation of the city's nuisance code sec. 12-6002.
