9th St N And 17th Ave N Saint Petersburg, Florida - St. Petersburg
The cross walk painted on 9th St N near 17th Ave N is used frequently by people going to/from Crescent Lake. However, the street marking and signage are so hard to see that many drivers speed past while people are waiting to cross. It is very dangerous for pedestrians, especially the many children in the surrounding neighborhoods. In this location - where drivers don't stop at the area designated as the safest place to cross - the cross walk only provides a false sense of security. Is it possible to repaint the cross walk, making it more obvious to drivers, and to place better signage on the side of the road? Ideally, the best option would be to install a median (similar to that on 4th St N near 20th Ave N) that made the pedestrian crossing more obvious. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Builder (QT Homes: 727-308-1154) destroyed the sidewalk during demo of home/ lot/ trees. Driving over sidewalk with large dump trucks and construction equipment have left an approximate 20 ft section completely broken up. It has been a month since demo and nothing done to repair a sidewalk that is heavily used by pedestrians to/ from crescent lake park.

On December 1, the City of St. Pete sent out a crew to poison the water lettuce on Crescent Lake. There are a number of issues here:

    1) There needs to be an early warning system so residents around the lake and any of our citizens walking in the vicinity of the lake can make a point of removing themselves out of the poison zone.

    2) It was very windy that morning, causing the poison to drift all over the sidewalks at the lake as well as into the surrounding neighborhoods. The poison crew should have decided upon observing the weather conditions that this was NOT the day to spread the herbicide. A number of neighbors reported that they and their dogs were covered in the herbicide. Also, much of the vegetation on the banks was covered in poison as were many of our water fowls, turtles, etc. This should have never happened.

    3) The city needs to disclose the poisons it sprays. And please remember, just because something is EPA approved does NOT make it safe. A lot of the poisons commonly and freely used in the U.S. have long been outlawed in other fully industrialized countries.

    4) The city needs to address the use of fertilizers in its neighborhoods as fertilizer runoff is the culprit here. Being able to sport St. Augustine grass is NOT more important than the health of our communities, the lake, and our urban wildlife.

In summary, there needs to be better communication from the city to its residents. I for one want to have the opportunity to completely remove myself and my animals from the neighborhood whenever the city decides to spray. The city also need to come up with a long-term plan targeted at preventing the growth of algae and water lettuce.

What is the City of St. Pete's plan for the rapidly expanding hydrilla problem in Crescent Lake? At present, it appears that roughly 35-40% of the total surface area of the lake has been overtaken. Clearly this is a byproduct of the lake's low-lying area (e.g. all surface chemicals are running into the lake from the surrounding neighborhoods) so the nitrogen levels in this lake are likely quite high. But the lake appears to be in danger of being completely overtaken

I am a recently retired newspaper executive currently a resident of St. Pete for the last 9 months and loving this fine city. I would like to see an improvement in amenities for parks and recreation. I play pickleball at some of the courts and the chatter around most of the outdoor courts is how we could use a restroom. Portable ones can work. We really have to hydrate a lot before play during most warm/hot days. Spending two or three hours on a court without a restroom break can get painful.
I play at Crescent Lake and Coquina park.

As a long time resident of the Five Points neighborhood and someone who spends many hours in Crescent Lake Park, I am concerned with the rapidly increasing vegetation in the lake itself. While I am aware of the volunteer program, their efforts are not sufficient to keep the growth under control. Is there a program in place to address the growth?

Recently two new geese have arrived at crescent lake park. These are not part of the group that has been here for ages and keeps its distance. These new geese have been claiming the playground as there new home. On numerous occasions these geese have attacked children in the park. These geese need to be relocated out of our park for the safety of our children.
I do emphasize that these are not part of the normal group of geese that are not an issue. Please do not remove or relocate the large group of geese, just the two loners.
