Birch Street Dead End At Water Saint Petersburg, Florida - Placido Bayou Community Association

I have been reporting and complaining to Engineering since Feb 2004 that Dolphin marine has been using the dead end of BIRCH STREET NE as a commercial waterway platform to load pilons onto dock building barges. They have dropped the pilons so many times that the entire sea wall cap is gone and there are cracks into the sea wall itself, it is now entirely compromised from a visual inspection. My concern since day one, was that the dripping of the heavy wooden pilots and subsequent cracking that broke off the cap and weakening of the wall, would damage and compromise my contiguous sea wall. I was repeatedly told by engineering that Doplhin Marine has the right to use the end of the street and this wall for its business, is permitted to dropping the heavy pilons on it and that it is part of the citizens right to access riparian water ways. They have been doing this for 14 years now. I have called routinely offering photos throughout the years and have never been asked for a statement or photos, and no one from the city has ever come to look at the seawall or contact me.

In addition, the soil has become loose due to the breaking off of the concrete and the loiterers who COME IN THE DARK and insist on fishing, drinking, and smoking pot down here (another problem that I cannot seem to get any help with) bring small children sometimes. If the erosion continues in front of the sea wall, one will simply slip though at some point.

I am asking that the city put up a sign telling these dock companies they may not use this sea wall for loading and unloading pilons or any activity. There should also be no fishing and loitering down here.

    PLEASE PROVIDE SOME ASSISTANCE

This home and neighbors have cut down several yards of mature Mangrove growth down to the roots. A path has also been cut through the remaining mangroves and large branches removed to give better views and water access that wasn't there before. I recall these home had been denied a petition just last year to remove mangroves, but have gone ahead anyway with cutting them down in this protected preservation area. Where once these homes were hidden behind decades of Mangrove growth, they are now visible. I'll be reaching out to the city council as well because these homes continue to damage this preservation area.

2 trees fell into the water blocking the ENTIRE canal behind my home located near Shorecrest Preparatory School/Placido Bayou. The trees are located on city property on the side of the canal beyond my personal property line. These trees need to be removed because no boaters can get through the canal as it blocks the entire canal from anyone entering or exiting via the canal & I'm sure interfering with water wildlife as well. Please have the trees removed from the canal & restore the waterway. Thank you.
