Alameda South Shore Center area

Notified About

  • 2101 Shore Line Drive Alameda California - Alameda
Please install flashing pedestrian lights across Shore Line Drive at the South Shore Center intersection, west of the Post Office. A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by an SUV here. People need to safely get to the beach from the shopping center.
  • 2252-2268 Otis Dr Alameda, CA 94501, USA - Alameda
Fence along Powell Street is in disrepair. The chain link fence posts are pulled out of the ground. The fence is rusty. The top railing of the chain link fence is bent. The wood fence is broken. And the concrete pillars are broken off. All in all, it seems unsafe as well as generally run down and forgotten.
  • 437-667 Park St Alameda, CA 94501, USA - Alameda
The sidewalk here along Park Street needs to be widened- it is only 2 feet wide. It is substandard and should be treated like a street with no sidewalk. People are walking in the street I order to walk side by side. It is a disgrace that the mall has been allowed to expand without widening this sidewalk. This is the main access between Oak Street and the beach for many people.

Seriously is this what our city has become? This is just awful.
  • 2314 S Shore Center Alameda CA 94501, United States - Alameda
I've been posting about this for 6 years The sidewalk here is only about 2 feet wide - too narrow for people walk past each other without having to walk in the street
Right now they have pulled out the plants so this is time to rectify the sidewalk situation

This morning four cars are parked with tires or mirrors into the bike lane. This is a daily problem at this location, and all four of these vehicles park in this manner regularly. Please install a permanent barrier at this location.

Picnic bench next to lagoon and Mario memorial is now being used as a dumping facility by a homeless person. Public is now being barred to enjoy as the person is using it as his dumping ground. Trash may also soon bleed into the lagoon...
  • 738-798 Park Street Alameda, California - Alameda
At intersection of Park & Otis there should be a right turn arrow signal installed to allow Park st. north. traffic to proceed onto Otis east to operate at the same time as the existing left turn signal for Otis west traffic heading onto Park st. south. It is too obvious to need any explanation except that it would save thousands of drivers valuable time. As of about 4 years ago we're not allowed to turn right on Otis on the red signal while sitting still we're watching Otis traffic turning left, all other traffic and pedestrians stopped.

Those of us who live in multiunit dwellings along Shoreline have zero access to electric vehicle charging at South Shore Center. If you have a Tesla, then you can pay to charge. When I first bought my first Volt back in 2012 I met the owner of Volta charging when he was scouting out locations for free charging stations paid for by advertising. I told him about South Shore Center and that's how the 2 Volta chargers got installed there. South Shore Center refused to put in more EV chargers and then put in a row of Tesla chargers that only the Tesla owners can use and only for a cost.

We need more EV charging infrastructure here in Alameda and without price gouging. Please consider South Shore Center for Fast Charging access and subsidize installing EV-promoting electrical upgrades for multiunit dwellings so we can reduce emissions in Alameda and prepare for the car manufacturers' plans to build only EVs.

    Thank you!

Bowling Alley landscape is a blight with dead weeds, litter and rocks all over the sidewalk - reported to you two months ago - no improvement to date

Trash cans on city Park property, and at South Shore Center, need to be picked up more frequently. Otherwise they end up overflowing, and I can imagine that it's very difficult for staff to empty them when they are this fall. Perhaps the rounds should be doubled in frequency. I'm sure that the time saved in having to deal with overflowing trash cans will more than make up for the time just to pick up the trash more frequently.
