Notified About

  • Summit Ave & Sherman Pl Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
The resident said that this area of Summit Avenue has cars speeding along with loud mufflers, especially at night. He is requesting a study be done so that maybe a light or other signs can be placed to slow down the traffic. He fears a pedestrian will get killed.
  • 55 Prospect St Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
There has been a considerable increase in helicopter traffic amounting to at least ten every 20 minutes flying by the Tonnele Ave and Saint Paul’s area . Does anyone know the reason. This is damaging to the neighborhood serenity . Noise pollution . What can be done . Unacceptable
  • New York Ave & Ravine Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
this is the intersection leading down the hill to Hoboken. this is pretty much every day during Rush hour, sometimes Saturdays and Sundays as well. everyone in a panic and wind up blocking the streets. unsafe when trying to come up the hill as well.
  • Booraem Ave & Central Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
There needs to be a stop light on the corner of booraem and central crossing into Pershing park. Over the weekend my partner and two dogs almost got hit by a reckless driver while crossing central in the crosswalk at noon!! This isn’t the first time almost been hit 3-4 times last few months!! It’s also difficult to make a left turn from Booraem onto central at that intersection because it’s blind. Cars are always speeding excessively. If there’s a stoplight at prospect and central which has much less foot traffic why not booraem and central? Many families are so scared to cross the street here because people do not stop! The current lighting there does absolutely nothing to stop these cars when people are crossing. Please do something before people get seriously hurt!!

214 Bowers Street Jersey City, New Jersey - The Heights
Would like to know whether the resident at 214 Bowers Street is within his legal right to place cones directly on the street at both sides of his driveway? He purposely places the cones beyond the width of his driveway which essentially decreases on street parking capacity for those of us who need to park our cars on the street. You can see from the pictures how far he has extended what he believes to be his property, including painting each curb at least 1 foot beyond what is actually his driveway. To make matters worse, he rarely parks his car in the driveway, and typically parks on the street in front of his driveway. While I understand that parking his car on the street in front of his driveway is his prerogative he should not force the rest of the community to comply with his demands. On street parking in the Heights is difficult problem to begin with on a daily basis and now we have to deal with an owners who feel they how a right to encroach on the street, too ? Every day he places these cones on the street and pushes them further back every chance he gets. Is this even legal ?

Green space filled in with cement.
  • New York Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Please install curb extensions at Palisade and Booraem. The opening is extremely wide causing pedestrians to be in the street for too long and allowing cars to turn at high speed.
  • 464-492 Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ 07307, USA - The Heights

There are multiple homeless people loitering and sleeping on the south side of Riverview park every night. The main issue is that they urinate and defecate in the fenced off triangle section which smells terrible now when you walk by.

They also leave all of their trash on the ground when they leave for the day, especially their empty bottles of alcohol.

Pershing Field Pool - The Heights
The showers in this facility have been constantly getting repaired but seem to become the same way after the fix them. There are paint chippings all over the shower and they create mold. The whole Pershing Field Pool needs renovation. The floors are always turning black from blue and the floors in the bathroom are beginning to mold and stink. The pool deck is even worse!! There's always hair or some type of algae growing in from the floor. This pool really needs lots of repairs and remodeling done!
  • 47 Sherman Pl Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights

The property owner destroyed the tree in front of the house, I don’t know whether accidentally or intentionally to give more space for their cars. Instead of replacing another tree in the spot, they have paved over the tree space and expanded the size of their driveway. There was plenty of space to go around the tree as they have a larger curb cut than anybody else in the area.

As part of the zoning variance for this property and to obtain the additional parking in the backyard, they negotiated to place two trees in front of the property in exchange for all of this extra parking and enormous curb cut.

  • 502 Palisade Avenue Jersey City, New Jersey - The Heights
The tall slide on the jungle gym closest to Palisade, some of the pieces are starting to disconnect and cause gaps. I saw a few kids hurt their fingers going down because they got caught in the gaps. It's currently a hazard and will only break completely in a short time. The biggest pieces coming apart are at the very top and very bottom of the slide.
  • Ferry St & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Even with the pedestrian signs drivers do not slow down. When you cross the street that yell at pedestrians like we are in the wrong crossing when we have the right away and it is state law. Also, very often someone is parking on the crosswalk right in from of Lofi making it unsafe to cross. Please but protectors on the crosswalk and also put a pedestrian sign in the middle of the road too so slow down motorists and let pedestrians go.
