4212 Urn Street Capitol Heights, MD 20743, USA - Capitol HeightsI first reported to ClickFix in 2010. We've had a bad infestation of asian tiger mosquitoes in our neighborhood for the past 8 years. I had spoken about the issue with our county executive at the time, Jack Johnson, while he was visiting with ABC's Extreme Home Makeover crew down the street in 2005. He assured us tthat the problem would be taken c are of. After numerous follow-up calls and lots of run-around, nothing has been done and the issue has only gotten worse. I can't enjoy my yard or garden anymore. Mosquito repellant doesn't seem to work on them. The picture below is the result of 5 minutes spent picking a few tomatoes from our garden. That's a lot of bites, yet only shows the back of my calf. My entire body was covered by bites. Please HELP! I've contacted our new county executive, Rushern Baker, about this and other issues, but he doesn't stem to respond unless you are a developer

Dangerous Street Crossing ArchivedPedestrian Crossing West Hyattsville, MD - Ward 5At the intersection of Ager Rd and Hamilton Street (right in front of the KFC) there is a "pocket" for cars making the right turn from Hamilton to Ager. Most drivers treat as an invitation to accelerate into the turn, ignoring the fact that pedestrians crossing Ager Road (many either going to or coming from the West Hyattsville Metro Station) have the right of way.
While there is a YIELD sign advising motorists making the right to yield to traffic on Ager Road. there should be a sign advising motorists to yield to pedestrians attempting to cross Ager Road.
The exisence of this dedicated "right tun pocket" is a big part of the problem. If it did not exist I am sure motorists would exercise more caution in yielding to pedestrians. -
Streets and Sidewalks Archived6401–6499 Sentinel Dr Hyattsville 20782, United States - Ward 3Please install a crosswalk at Editors Park Drive and Sentinel Ave. The absence of a crosswalk creates a hazard for residents of the area AND school children attending Nicholas Orem. Cars are reluctant to stop for pedestrians.

Missing signs Open7778-7792 Adelphi Rd College Park, MD 20740, USA - College Park
Turning onto University Blvd from Adelphi road is confusing, as no turns are allowed at the intersection itself. However, the signs at this intersection showing drivers where to turn are completely inadequate.
Two of the signs indicating the turn onto 193 are tiny and poorly placed -- nobody looking for the turn would see them until it's too late to change lanes. The other signs indicating the turn are missing altogether (look at the bent signposts with no signs attached.)

3101 Branch Ave Temple Hills, MD 20748, USA - Hillcrest HeightsThere are no pedestrian crosswalks nor walk/don't walk signs croass Branch Av, leaving the Naylor Rd. Metro. There is a strip mall directly across Branch Av from the Metro. Pedestrians cross Branch Av, and are having to contend with left turning vehicles, and Metrobuses onto Branch Avenue. Signage, plus painted crosswalks on Branch Av. would assist pedestrians who have to reach the other side of Branch Avenue.

Replace or Update Traffic Sign Archived42nd Ave & Oliver St Hyattsville, MD, 20781, USA - Ward 1
I previously requested a stop sign due to the dangerous situation at this intersection (Request # 15367540). The previous request was rejected saying I needed a petition with 60 percent of block residents before the city would even consider it.
Another resident asked about whether all units in the adjoining apartment buildings count toward the population of the block for the purposes of such a petition and got no response.
Near crashes with cars and pedestrians continue to occur routinely, especially around school traffic.
This morning there was a crash involving a school bus at this intersection.
I understand the need to carefully consider traffic calming options, but it seems nonsensical to just let crashes keep happening until citizens themselves organize a petition. A stop sign would have safety benefits here and not harm anyone. Almost every other intersection on 42nd has a four-way stop. It is implausible that this intersection needs special study before making it like all the others.
Is the government unable to put up a stop sign on its own without waiting for an official petition with ambiguous requirements? If the residents' desire for a stop sign must be submitted through a special petition, can the government not act on its own desire to fix this situation?
