Parks Request ArchivedFarnam Dr New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - East RockI would like to request that Farnum Drive and Park Drive in East Rock Park remain closed forever! There are so many people who cannot use the trails (or are afraid of them) who are taking advantage of using the roads to walk in the park. Jogger, walker, stroller, pets, the elderly, bicyclists...it's amazing! When open, the traffic on those roads is dangerous with many vehicles speeding and driving recklessly. I have also noticed there there is NO DUMPING happening now that the roads are closed. Please consider NOT re-opening those roads to traffic.

Parks Request Archived29 Tour Avenue New Haven Connecticut - WestvilleThe preschool at 3 Tour Avenue would like access to the river walk, located next to the playground at 29 Tour Avenue. We would like an opening created in the metal fence along Tour Avenue. This way, we can easily take our preschoolers for walks along the river or over to the playground on Blake Street. We would also appreciate a dedicated crosswalk on Tour from our playground to the river walk. We thank the city in advance for making this happen!

Chapel Street And Alden Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Westville
Chapel Street remains a raceway in Westville with another three accidents at the intersection of Alden Avenue within the past few weeks. Even after the addition of bumped out curbs and medians, drivers have figured out that they can maintain their speed while flying through this area. Unfortunately, the medians in the road have had no effect on the speed and even caused issues with neighbors entering and exiting their own driveways and reduced parking for those with small driveways.
Perhaps a roundabout at the intersections of Alden Avenue and Yale Avenue will slow speeders down in this area. Another idea, in addition to the roundabouts is cameras, discretely placed in several locations from Yale Avenue to Forest Road, to catch speeders who would then receive tickets along with a photo catching them in the act. Putting up speed trackers or stationing a police car on the street every once in awhile will not slow folks down. Time to remove the medians and try another option.

Parks Request Archived410 Woodward Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - AnnexThe trees in East Shore Park are in DESPERATE need of being cleaned of invasive and native species of vine which are growing well into the canopy of many of the trees. I would easily say that 95% of the trees inside the park along the areas of unmown lawn especially are affected. As well, two trees have been girdled by vandalism, with many more being girdled by invasives such as bittersweet. I understand the financial crisis of the city and the Park Departments decision to let the lawn go wild for the last two seasons prior to this one, but in doing this, invasives have come in and are scaffolding up most of the trees. This situation is approaching dire.

888 Grand Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Wooster Square
As a female resident of NHV who has to walk down Grand Avenue every day, I've become exhausted by the loitering, intimidation, and harassment I face almost every day just going to and from work. I get watched going in and out of my apartment and followed, stalked by cars driving next to me down the street - nowhere else in New Haven except that street. Today was the final straw when one man in particular made it clear what his intentions were as he screamed at me when I walked by and I'm concerned I may see him again.
The liquor store owners are amazing people and I have nothing but good things to say about them, but the people the store attracts has made Grand Avenue terrifying to walk down coupled with the few abandoned buildings and empty lots. The store is maybe 35% of the problem. the lack of policing is the rest.
Please...PLEASE, can a police car be stationed here throughout the day and night? I see none. Ever. If I do, they're just driving through to get to somewhere else. I live so close to downtown that I want to be able to enjoy walking there with some sense of security.
Thank you.

Private Property Issue Archived145 Blake St New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - Beaver HillsWHEN will the gas station on the corner of Osborn Avenue and Blake Street be taken care of? It is a complete disgrace to the neighborhood. If it isn't going to be thrown down or dealt with, at least clean it up. How many times must the neighbors complain about this? It is a total eyesore and continues to make the entire neighborhood look bad.

Traffic Signal / Pedestrian Signal AcknowledgedAshmun St & Lock St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Downtown
This is an incredibly dangerous intersection for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. It is a high-volume intersection because drivers from Dixwell and Newhallville uses this route to get downtown. There is a stop sign for drivers on Lock St but no other safety features. Therefore, there is absolutely NO safe way for pedestrians to cross: No crosswalk, no 3-way stop, no traffic light. Drivers frequently turn without checking for pedestrians. A cyclist was hit recently and many pedestrians avoid this intersection. It’s a matter of time before a fatal accident happens.
I would like to request a new Pedestrian crossing sign and a painted (ideally raised) crosswalk. It would also help if this was a 3-way Stop to reduce speeds. Thank you for your consideration.

This Could Be... Acknowledged738-752 State St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - DowntownThis could be an inviting pedestrian link between new destinations in Nolo, September in Bangkok, and Boiling Soho—grounded establishments of Christopher Martins and D'Legna—and old staples in Goodfellas, L'Orcio, and Modern. St. Stanislaus is a beautiful church in the middle of them all, and Bradley Street Bike Co-op is a community hub. An art project for the walls of the underpass would liven up the area and bring the consistent foot traffic that these places need to thrive.

Traffic/Road Safety Open317 Alden Ave New Haven, CT 06515, USA - WestvilleThe intersection of Alden Ave and Willard Street needs to be a four way stop for all vehicles. There are far too many accidents and near accidents at this location. Plus, it will stop the constant speeding down Alden Avenue. It is difficult and frightening to cross Alden Avenue for pedestrians.
