This was reported last July. Nothing has been done to keep trash from washing down into Hightower Creek for the last 6 months. It is on the down hill side of the parking lot so everything washes to this caved in storm drain. I know it is private property. The parking lot has trash everywhere and no trash cans. I thought this was addressed. Thanks.

Just curious as to why the City Marshalls or anyone else for that matter refuse to acknowledge and use the click fix app. Multiple legitimate violations being reported and going over 3 months of being ignored.

Understandable there are priorities and manning issues but 3 months with absolutely no acknowledgment on the forum that the City pushes as the primary means of reporting violations and issues to the City? That’s ridiculous.

Please take a look at this click fix you’ve been ignoring for 3 months and there are plenty of others.

950 N Saint Augustine Rd Valdosta 31601, United States - Valdosta District 3

Litter accumulates in this detention pond from the Stormwater runoff of the parking lot. This detention pond drains directly into Hightower Creek sending large amounts of litter unobstructed along with it. This is purposely being reported as litter because the issue is litter escaping the detention pond and being deposited directly into Hightower Creek.

Please do not send this to Stormwater Management. Stormwater Manager Angela Bray has repeatedly expressed that this and similarly reported issues are a private issue that Stormwater cannot, therefore will not take action on.

This detention pond is a direct source of litter that enters the Withlacoochee River via Sugar Creek and Hightower Creek. There is not litter prevention mechanism keeping the litter on the property as per the entirety of City Ordinance on litter Chapter 82 section 82-1

How to Demonstrate that your department is a disservice to the community…

Ignoring a reported issue for 5 months is a good way to show that you don’t care!

Stromwater took several paid City Workers to clean up this private property! After ignoring this toxic location nearly a year and a half after being formally reported to Stormwater Management, City Marshall Brandon Corbitt, and Deputy City Manager Richard Hardy, instead of enforcing the City’s existing litter ordinance that requires the business/property owners to clean up this egregious and toxic litter spot.

Not only has the City proved that they are aware of this toxic location, the departments have demonstrated that they are covering up for the businesses/private property by making on the clock City employees do job that the businesses and private property is required to do. Now that this PR stunt is over….nothing is in place collaborate with the property/business owners to keep this toxic location clean and nothing in place to educate and enforce City Ordinance either.

Who’s going to clean this up next month when the trash has built back up to egregious levels.

Who’s gonna hold the private property accountable?

Who’s going to enforce code and make the business and private property owners put trash cans out in this parking lot? City Ordinance requires dozens of trash cans in this parking lot…there are currently ZERO!!!

Who’s going to educate the business and private property owners on litter violations, Stormwater management and require the private property and business owners to clean this area and keep it clean per Existing City Ordinance?

Do we have to wait until October 2023 for the next “Love Your River” Cleanup before this Stormwater Permit Checklist item comes up and the City uses on the clock paid government employees to cleanup this private property again?

    🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🫵🫵🫵🫵
