Downtown Jersey City, plus Hamilton Park and Paulus Hook

Notified About

  • 340 Second Street Jersey City, New Jersey - Downtown
Last night this very same vehicle drove right over the delinator's, a middle age female with shoulder length dark hair walked out of J.C Eco Laundry and laughed uproariously at the driver, clapping and saying "Haha, good one!!"
THIS is NO LONGER a simple "parking violation", this is a full blown business complaint. Thank you.
  • Christopher Columbus Dr & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
The left signal turning from Columbus onto Marin coming from Grove Street was apparently intentionally turned off to allow more time for people to drive across Columbus. This makes it basically impossible to turn left onto Marin, as you have to cross two lanes of traffic, wait for Marin to clear, and wait for any pedestrians in the cross-walk. It often takes one car two full cycles to turn left through the intersection. It should be turned back on and the whole cycle should be lengthened to solve both problems.
  • 155 Washington St Jersey City, New Jersey, 07302 - The Waterfront
Why is Equity Residential above the law? This building is subject to Rent Control but Equity Residential doesn't follow the regulations in lease renewals. Why is the city not enforcing ordinance 260? Why?
  • Grand St & Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
With the recent explosion of traffic on Jersey Ave due to the direct link to Liberty State Park, the intersection at Jersey Av and Grand St has turned into a nightmare. There need to be dedicated green lights for turning left as well as dedicated safe crossing time for pedestrians instead of having to negotiate with frustrated drivers turning left. Big safety issue and very disappointing that the city did not address this before opening the floodgates.
  • 247 Washington St Jersey City, NJ 07302, USA - The Waterfront
idiots continue to risk lives. Vision Zero....literally.
  • 298 4th St Jersey City, NJ 07302, USA - Downtown
Sidewalk in desperate need of repair on the coles street side of 298 4th street. There is just loose dirt and rocks in two huge spots over 100 sq feet. There is even a massive and dangerous sink home with orange cones in it. Also digging work was recently completed and not properly repaired. Major safety hazard for walking, jogging, strollers and children. Please don't let this linger before repairing or forcing the owner of 298 4th street to repair.
  • Christopher Columbus Dr & Monmouth St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
The intersection at Christopher Colombus and Monmouth is VERY dangerous because at the light on Monmouth there are two car lanes one for going straight and one for right turns only. When the light turns green more often than not cars that are in the right turn only lane try to go straight causing a dangerous and unexpected merging situation. I see near collisions every morning.
  • 149 Essex St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Trees on Dudley St and Van Vorst St in Paulus Hook are growing out of control, and brings in many birds that bomb people, cars and the sidewalks with large amounts of droppings. It’s disgusting as well as a health hazard. Please heavily trim or completely remove trees. Have pictures of damage this has caused, but app only allows 1 picture upload. Original request was in July 2022. Nothing has been done.
  • 195-225 Grand Street Jersey City, New Jersey - Downtown

Hello - I wanted to raise some ongoing concerns my family and I have regarding traffic issues at the intersection of Grand St. and Marin Blvd.

Contstant accidents due to left turns when turning north onto Marin, and run ins with pedestrians when cars make a right turn on Red when turning west onto Grand, make this is easily one of the worst intersections in the downtown area.

With additional residential buildings going up, the pedestrian traffic is only going to get worse very quickly. Can more specific traffic lights be put up for turning? Or No turn on red signs?

Please feel free to contact me.
    Thank you.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to file a complaint or if this is the correct type of complaint to file, but O'haras Downtown Sport Bar & Grill is, by far, the worst thing to happen to this neighborhood in Jersey City.

Every weekend on both Friday and Saturday night starting at around 2:00am, and sometimes earlier, up until around 4:00am, and sometimes later, the bar O'haras kicks everyone out. During that time, complete chaos ensues. Everyone starts screaming, arguing, smashing liquor bottles, driving drunk, and destroying property. Almost every weekend there are multiple fights and sometimes, but very rarely, the cops show up. However, the cops just move everyone along so they can clearly/obviously drive away drunk. Most of this happens on 1st Street between Marin Blvd and Provost street, right outside of the Oakmont and The Art House buildings.

Every Sunday and Monday, there is smashed glass from liquor bottles all over the streets and sidewalks. My dog has sadly walked through the smashed glass multiple times, so I am now more cautious and spend my Sunday's and Monday's cleaning the streets and sidewalks. O'haras is 100% responsible for all of this and something needs to be done about it.

One day, something very bad is going to happen outside of O'haras after it closes - if that hasn't happened already. I constantly fear for my fiance (who is a woman) when she has to walk past that bar late at night on weekend. The crowd is aggressive, angry, drunk, belligerent, and destructive. Also, I am extremely confident that cars, car windows, and/or other property will be destroyed on one of the more hectic nights. Something needs to be done about the noise, violence, damage to property, and all of the other terrible things that O'harras brings to this neighborhood before something really terrible happens.

If there is a better way to report this type of issue, please let me know. Thank you.

  • 145 Sussex St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
I live near the corner of Van Vorst and Sussex and frequently drive down Van Vorst. There is currently parking on both side of the street and two-way traffic. There simply isn’t room for 4 cars on Van Vorst. Cars frequently cannot turn onto the street and are forced to back up into traffic, and visibility turning onto the street is very difficult and last night I witnessed a fender bender as a result. The street can support only three cars, so either it should be turned into a one-way street or parking eliminated from one side.

Broken city council and Ordinance enforcement.

Ordinance 260, Rent Control is not being enforced. Per Ordinance 260-6C a rent control exemption only applies if the original owner files a claim of exemption at least 30 days prior to the completion of construction of a multiple dwelling. The default in Jersey City is Rent Control, not an exemption to rent control yet the council, the landlord tenant office, our mayor, Stephen Fulop and the Rent Leveling Administrator, Pastor Shyrone Richardson, are allowing landlords to charge increases that are as high as 10x the legal limit.

This can't be allowed to continue!

According to Ordinance 260, the landlord tenant office and the Rent Leveling Administrator exist to enforce Ordinance 260.

We all SEE what is happening, so I CLICK so this can be FIXED.
