Notified About

  • 579 Broad Street Portsmouth, New Hampshire - Broad Street Neighborhood Group
Please install lit, blinking speed detection signs- in both directions, on Broad Street. One near Jones Ave and one near South Street. This section of Board is serving as a "cut-through" alternative to Sagamore during heavy traffic times (7am - 9am) and (4:30pm - 6pm). These times coincide with children who live on Broad Street - playing ball in their yards and running from house to house using the sidewalks. Thank you for the consideration.
  • 433 Broad St Portsmouth, NH, 03801, USA - Broad Street Neighborhood Group

Upper Broad St. residents can often see speeding cars going from or to the Elks Lodge or the Clippers Harbor. The speed limit is 20mph but many people use this part of the Broad St as a short cut and speed.
The big issue with this are: Children playing on the street.

Therefor the residents of the upper Broad St. are requesting waring signs and speed bumps.

Let us avoid another accident with children involved!

    Thank you!

752 South St Portsmouth, NH, 03801, USA - Broad Street Neighborhood Group
Please update the speed limit signs on South street to what the speed limit actually is. It is listed as 20 MPH which no one does. I drive 25 mph on it and have people riding my bumper. I feel sorry for the people who live on this street as people use it to get down town. This is a safety issue.
  • Usps Broad Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801, United States of America - Broad Street Neighborhood Group

The sidewalk between Broad Street and the Sagamore/Miller intersection on South street is virtually impassable for strollers, children's bikes, and wheelchairs.

The roots from the trees continue to push the pavement up and needs to be addressed.

Request to consider planting a tree between the sidewalk and street. To the right of the walkway at 579 Broad. Looks as though there may have been on there in the past. Would recommend a RedBud, Serviceberry, or Red HorseChestnut.

Can the construction signs be moved out of the bike lane and onto the grassy strip - or placed on the telephone poles.
With this project taking many months, and this is one of the busiest areas for bikers, forcing bicyclists into the travel lane is not safe.
  • 171 Jones Ave Portsmouth, NH, 03801, USA - Broad Street Neighborhood Group
What are the determining factors in creating new sidewalks on streets that currently have none? Jones Avenue has a fairly heavy flow of both car traffic due to the nursing home and Elks Club located on it, bicycles, and a great deal of pedestrian traffic - children and youth walking to school and citizens walking up and down Jones. A sidewalk would be a huge safety and aesthetic improvement and may serve to slow down traffic. How do we get one installed? The same is true on Little Harbor Road. Pedestrian traffic on both streets has increased tremendously since the pandemic. Thank you.
