Notified About

  • Canner St & Loomis Pl New Haven, Connecticut - Prospect Hill
Crosswalk urgently needed On Canner St &Loomis Place - Very very busy intersection which is near two schools and Celentano and Foote as well as the Divinity School. Please address asap.
  • 347-351 Canner St New Haven, Connecticut - Prospect Hill
We need a pedestrian crosswalk on Canner Street near Loomis Pl and Division Street. This block of Canner has heavy foot traffic - including many families with small children! - due to the presence of two grade schools (Foote and Celentano), two day-care centers (in the Whitehall and YDS apartments), three apartment complexes (Whitehall, Ivy Manor, and YDS), Yale Divinity School, and the YDS community garden. A crosswalk would make our life here safer and easier.
  • Whitney And Lawrence New Haven Connecticut - East Rock

The city removed shrubbery between the sidewalk and the parking lot for the firestation. The result is an eyesore. We would like new shrubbery planted.

  • 1-25 Sachem Street New Haven, Connecticut - Yale University Campus
Every time it rains there are small lakes in front of the pedestrian access points to the intersection of Whitney and Sachem. The water also gathers along the edge of the road on Whitney for some way meaning that cars splash huge waves of water on pedestrians walking along Whitney. This happens virtually every time it rains significantly. This is by no means the only intersection but certainly one of the worst. I don't know if this is just clogged storm drains or a deeper problem in the design of the street, but please address this in whatever way possible. Thanks, Max
  • 468-478 Whitney Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Very loud motorcycles drive down Whitney Avenue many times per day, and sometimes in the middle of the night, revving their engines, accelerating as fast as they can, and generally making much more noise than necessary. This aggressive and obnoxious behavior is hugely disruptive to what is otherwise a peaceful residential neighborhood. Is there any possibility of enforcing noise ordinances?
  • 56 Hillhouse Ave New Haven 06511, United States - Prospect Hill
Where are the in-street pedestrian crossing signs?
I watched a pedestrian stuck trying to cross Sachem at Hillhouse. No cars would stop for her - I actually had to stop traffic with my bicycle!
As I was cycling home through East Rock I wondered...where are all the in-street pedestrian crossing signs?
    I don't see them anywhere.
As someone who remembers a time when they weren't allowed in New Haven, having the in-street pedestrian signs regularly, proactively installed is a small but important victory for all of us in the traffic safety community.
  • Signs Archived
438 Whitney Ave New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Prospect Hill
This Saturday I removed SEVEN advertising signs (all for a supposedly cheap TV, phone, and Internet service provider) from utility poles at 400 Whitney Avenue, 438 Whitney, 443 Whitney, 450 Whitney (Bethesda Lutheran Church), 611 Whitney, and two other locations on Whitney. The signs were all posted in violation of New Haven regulations. It would be helpful if Public Works or the Police Department would call the phone number on these signs, 860-869-0284, and tell the company that signs are not allowed to be posted on utility poles. Perhaps the advertiser will get the message. The signs are visual clutter.
  • 2-90 Sheffield Ave New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Prospect Hill

I am in wheel chair and I catch public transportation. Today, when I was trying to get on the bus, there was too much snow on the curb and the handicap access ramps on the curbs for the bus to be able to lower the handicap accessible ramp, for to be able to mount with my wheel chair. When the driver tried to lower the ramp, because of the snow, there was a gap of about an inch or so. This is very unsafe for me, as well as other citizens. Please address this immediately. My concern today was at the bus stop I was at; however, this is happening all over the city. There has to be a better and safer system, to protect all the city's citizens, in times of inclement weather.

Also, when it rains the water pulls at the end of the parking lot and drains into the bus stop. When the temperature is at freezing levels, this area turns into an ice rink. If I go over the curb to reach the bus, I can lose control of my wheel chair and slide directly into oncoming traffic.

  • 228 Edwards St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Bishop-Hine
There are a number very large broken branches stuck in this tree. The tree overhangs a parking lot for the tenants at 228 Edwards St. I am not sure how to contact the landlord for this building.
  • 303 Whitney Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Bishop-Hine
The bushes in the parking lot have grown to completely cover and block the windows of the apartments that are adjacent to the parking lot.
  • 321 Whitney Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Bishop-Hine
Hard to tell where it's coming from, but just about every night the past week or so (at least), we've heard loud popping-like sounds in the distance from our apartment. Starting after sundown, continuing at least until 11 or so. Anyone else hearing these/know what's going on?
  • 215 Bishop Street New Haven, Connecticut - Bishop-Hine
215 Bishop Street. Loud building noises all day. Don't see a building permit for the construction that's going on to the deck and the roof.
