Notified About

  • 1 Belmont St Cambridge, MA 02138, USA - Watertown
Would be nice to have a giant neon sign further back in Belmont St. warning folks that the right lane no longer goes left. Probably about 40% of traffic takes a left from the rightmost lane, which is dangerous for people trying to follow new traffic pattern

My wife and I are 81 and 77 years old, and the winter situation for the dog area on the flat area on top of the hill of Kingsley Park is not workable. It's a steepish hill to get to the dog area, and treacherous for us at our age if its covered with snow. We need a nearly horizontal access. The only option at present is to walk all the way around Kingsley hill on the paved path until we get closer to the far end where the access to the dog area would be close to level. But that path, when we last were there a few weeks ago, was not plowed -- though it appears that the path around the entire pond has been plowed. Would it be possible to plow that path all the way around as well? Besides getting to the dog area, it would be very nice if we could safely walk around Kingsley hill on that paved path if plowed, a much shorter walk that not only we but others might like to do on a regular basis. Thank you so much for considering our concern.

The pedestrian crossing light in this intersection (Watertown/ Galen/ Nonantum Streets) is too short in length of timing. A healthy adult has difficulties in crossing in time, and this is a cross walk that is used by Perkins School for the Blind students, senior citizens and families with small children that often cannot cross the street in time during the light. We would appreciate your investigation in changing the timing of the lights. Thank you!

Traffic in bike / bus lane again
  • 1 Belmont Street Cambridge, Massachusetts - Watertown

The new right turn only lane from Belmont St. to Mt. Auburn St. is absurdly useless.

First, there's no advance warning, so by the time drivers notice it, it's already too late for them to change lanes so they just barrel on left.

Second, there's no incentive for the drivers to not turn left. The dashed striping guides them through the intersection (though few manage to stay in their lane correctly) into their own lane awaiting them on Mt. Auburn.

Third, turning from the left lane only and staying in the left lane on Mt. Auburn has a disadvantage of getting stuck behind cars turning left to Star Market or Homer Ave. If not that, then having to change lanes anyway if not turning left on Aberdeen.

While waiting for the pedestrian lamp this morning (not even at rush hour), I counted 12 vehicles go through the right-turn-only lane. 11 of them went left - 4 at a high rate of speed, 1 ran a red light.

  • Jackson Rd Watertown, MA, 02472, USA - Watertown
Jackson Road is peppered with potholes and borders on undriveable. This road needs to be repaved entirely, not just patched every time someone posts on here. There are far too many potholes to patch this properly. PLEASE repave this for everyone's sake.
  • 200–230 Grove St Watertown 02472, United States - Watertown
There are multiple potholes on Grove street between Coolidge Ave and Mt. Auburn st. Every time there is a storm, new potholes form. There have been multiple repairs to potholes on this road. It needs to be repaved.

There are no curb cuts at the pedestrian crossing on Belmont St directly opposite the intersection with Circuit Ln - red oval on the attached image.

On the north side there is a curb cut for pedestrians crossing Circuit Lane, but none aligned with the crossing (green arrow). On the south side there is no curb cut at all (blue arrow), and the only way to cross is to press the button then walk to the parking lot access, then cross the street behind the first or second car waiting at the lights, coming out on the wrong side of Circuit Ln.

This is a clear ADA violation, and dangerous to me as a wheelchair user. It prevents me from crossing Belmont St. This is the only crossing of Belmont St between the Waltham line and the intersection at Waverley Ave that is protected by lights. There are other marked crossings, but none have lights. There is a daycare right at this location, as well as a popular pizza restaurant. It is also a main route to the Cunniff School for students living in the neighborhood north of Belmont St.

    Please fix this asap.

I was crossing the street near Hosmer to pick up my child from school today. Cars would not stop. Some veered around me (and another pedestrian) and one came very close to hitting me. It was terrifying. In the absence of a real traffic light, please add a flashing pedestrian light at this crosswalk. It's the closest crosswalk to the school for those going home from work toward the square on the 71 bus. Rush hour and school pick up can coincide, and when it starts getting dark at 4, everyone is at risk on this fast moving four lane road. This would be even more dangerous for children, elderly, anyone with mobility issues.
