Animal Complaints Archived508 Drexel Ave Decatur, GA, 30030, USA - Decatur508 Drexel Avenue has a major barking problem. Several times a day starting at daybreak, the owners let out multiple large dogs and they go crazy. It's unbelievably loud. It goes on for several minutes and then quiet. A while later, same thing. My wife works from home and it's making her crazy. We've been living in our house for nearly twenty years. I can't even hang out on my deck anymore without their German Shepards barking like the guard dogs in Stalag 17. One of our other neighbors talked to the dog owners about the noise. She was dismissed and nothing got better. The owners don't understand or care that they're disturbing the neighborhood at all hours. If they can't remember that other people live next door, they should be reminded with a fine. We're sick of these dogs blasting us out of bed daily. Enough already.

Street Signs Archived801-899 W Howard Ave Decatur, GA, 30030, USA - Decatur
The 'State Law - Stop for pedestrians within crosswalk' sign in the middle of the crosswalk spanning W Howard Ave at Drexel Ave is missing again.
It's been hit two or three times (at least), likely by larger trucks turning into or out of Drexel Ave. The crosswalk is at the top of a short rise, so it's probable that cars driving east toward Decatur don't see the crosswalk until the last minute, even more so without signage. Without it, crossing is much harder since cars don't feel the need to stop, even for people waiting at the side of the street with young kids or strollers.
Perhaps a more permanent solution could be installed? Or multiple signs (pedestrian signs either side of the street)? Or the base for the sign moved to the middle of the yellow painted median to make it less likely to be hit? Anything to make drivers more aware of the crosswalk.
Thanks!

City Trees and Park Maintenance Archived236 Adair St Decatur, GA, 30030, USA - DecaturA crepe myrtle was damaged by a tree that had fallen and removed more more than 2 yrs ago. The president of the home owners assoc has contacted the city several time and each time was told it would be replaced in Spring.
More than 2 yrs have gone by and still no crepe myrtle.
An uncooperative home owner has planted personal plantings, though the board requested remove awaiting the city to replant the crepe myrtle. Because it is city property the board has no authority over it.
It is unfair to the rest of the home owners for the city to allow this and not do what was promised.
It seems that we are aleay told next Spring. It never happens. So another request is made. And again, told next Spring. Several of the home owners have asked why the city won't replace it.
We have worked hard to keep our properties uniform.
Can someone please tell us if and when it will be replaced?
Please don't say next Spring. It seems Spring never comes. -
Traffic Signal Issue Archived1041 Atlanta Ave Decatur, GA, 30030, USA - DecaturThere is no rage like a mother's rage when her children are in danger. The crosswalk signal for crossing East Howard at Atlanta Ave does not work. I sat on the phone with my 6th grader through 3 changes of the signal at 5pm while she attempted to cross the street. I drove from Edgewood to pick her up to get her across the street in the time she was waiting. This is a HUGE deal because when the crossing guards are not there and leaving from aftershool activities, children cannot cross the street. If my child or anyone else gets injured crossing at this light because the pedestrian signal doesn't work, this is your notice that Decatur and DeKalb will pay dearly. If you can't fix it tomorrow, pay your crossing guards overtime to keep them until 5:30 and the middle school students who live on the north side can get across the train tracks.

Street Maintenance Archived316 Lansdowne Ave Decatur, GA, 30030, USA - Decatur
The last 200 yards or so of Lansdowne Ave in front of our house and that of our next-door neighbors is unpaved. With recent rains and some home construction traffic the road quality is significantly diminished with lots of holes, standing water, etc. We request that this be addressed with a more permanent solution of paving this section of road.
I can't seem to get the SeeClickFix system to register me, my e-mail is [email protected] and phone number is 404-217-0281

Street Parking Issues Archived100-198 Drexel Ave Decatur, GA, 30030, USA - Decatur
There is a daily safety hazard on the corner of Drexel Avenue and W Howard Avenue. A red Nissan Pathfinder (Alabama plate # 2BT7671) is parking right up to the corner and completely blocking the southbound lane of Drexel. Driving south on Drexel, a driver has to get around the Nissan to make any turns. If another car tries to turn onto Drexel from W Howard at the same time, the two vehicles will collide. It’s really dangerous, especially at rush hour. The Nissan is also right up on an existing fire hydrant. It’s not a one-off occurrence. The Nissan owner has decided that its fine to block the only lane you can turn from.
If this is a code violation, a citation might help this person realize that they’re creating a hazard. A permanent solution would be to add a “No Parking Here To Corner” sign. Please do what you can to fix this before there’s a serious accident.

Street Maintenance Archived217 Melrose Ave Decatur, GA, 30030, USA - DecaturThe actively used alley between Drexel and Melrose has lost much of its gravel over the years and is slowly eroding. It's too much for any one resident to fix. Would be greatly appreciated if the City could provide new gravel. Thanks.
