Mosswood/Manila

Notified About

  • 351 40th St Oakland, CA, 94609, USA - Mosswood

Debris, pieces of a burned rv (resulting from a fire inside the RV that broke out at 10am this morning), trash, and if you look beyond the 2 rvs, a car is actually parked on the sidewalk, Silver Infinity with Florida Tags.

The sidewalk is obviously impassable and dangerous.

Someone has to do something about this encampment on a residential sidewalk! Please! I have found used syringes, a deranged man screams at passerbyers and wanders all over the neighborhood with a pipe in his hand. We’ve had three bicycles stolen from our backyard and we can quite visibly see the parts of one of them at this encampment (the police said there’s nothing they can do). There’s rats, mice, piles of trash and piles of human waste in doorways. My neighbors want to move because it’s not safe. It’s NOT SAFE.

The Outside of this toxic, condemned and dangerous building is exploding with tents, debris, trash, and flammable materials. The absentee owner through his neglect has allowed this situation of the encampment and its accompanying trash to grow out of control. Residents of the homeless camp have broken in multiple times to this building. He and the city need to be held accountable for this dangerous, toxic fire risk

4-yard square pile of furniture, shopping carts, debris, futon frames, boxes, junk, etc. growing on Manila avenue, taking over sidewalk and spilling into the street, taking up at least three parking spots and growing bigger every day. City of Oakland, this trash has nothing to do with necessities of living for a homeless person --it's a vermin-attracting public nuisance and fire hazard. Please do something about it!

This morning, July 8 2020, there was a fire that completely demolished this camper caught fire. Shortly before the fire, neighbors were awoken by the sound of fireworks coming from the camper. This fire is mere feet from the lumber yard which is full of combustible material and is directly across the street from my building on Opal st. It really would only take a good wind and minutes for this entire neighborhood to go up in flames. Let me assure you---given the numerous IGNORED complaints regarding the illegal encampment where residents have started multiple fires in or adjacent to both the lumber yard and the abandoned glovatorium building which we know contains full tanks of flammable toxins and the DANGEROUS EMERGENCY situation---there will be lawsuits and they will be brought by insurnace companies with deep pockets. Do you really think the city of Oakland will not be found liable given the months of warnings and pleas from neighborhood residents that have gone ignored????

    Stolen/abandoned/vandalized/pilfered.

This car showed up 5 nights ago. Several times, at NIGHT, different vehicles have approached it, WITH THEIR LIGHTS OFF, double-parked next to it and moved between it and their vehicle (once, to their trunk).

Given this block is a major path for the homeless between the Manila encampment (3800 block) and Mosswood Park, it's getting a lot of unwanted additional attention.

    Please prioritize towing this vehicle!

Homeless encampment that is taking up the entirety of Manila Ave. between 38th and 40th street is moving closer and closer to the residential part of the street. Shopping carts specifically in this photo seen just a couple yards from the residential complex, but tents, debris, and abandoned cars have taken over this block. Please take care of this, we have been reporting for a long time now and hope that the city will actually take action soon.

This big vehicle showed up several weeks ago, parked in a 2 hour Area A zone. Hasn't moved once and no one has returned to it. This high traffic block with often not enough parking now has THREE abandoned vehicles on it.
  • 3833 Manila Ave Oakland CA 94609, United States - Mosswood
Been here for months. There are four cars on this block that are not lived in and are abandoned.
  • 3816 Manila Ave Oakland, CA, 94609, USA - Mosswood
RV Runs very loud generator consistently, all night, all day and everyday. Super loud and obnoxious, if homeless people are gonna be allowed to live on the block in RVs and block all the sidewalks, then they should have to at least follow a few rules like not being able to run generators all night long while living next to houses and apartments.

This is no longer a pothole - it’s a sink hole. There edge is very sharp and damaged our tire when we drove over it slowly

This building burned in a 3 alarm fire due to arson back in March. The owner put a non-secure, easily broachable fence around the building and since then it has been broken into and now it is covered in graffiti all the way around the building almost to the roof. Whoever does it has access to the 2nd floor of the building and an exterior deck, which means they have entered the "secure" area and climbed up the front of the building. the building has been red tagged as condemned but is not secure, is a repository for trash and graffiti and at risk of being set on fire again by the nearby homeless camp residents. The sidewalk has been impassable for 6 months and is overgrown with weeds and trash.
