Pedestrian Safety Request AcknowledgedCentral Ave & Ferry St Jersey City, New Jersey, 07307 - The HeightsThe crosswalk should be moved from directly in front of the church which is also where cars make the left turn on to Ferry St off Central to directly in front of palisade Pups. It’s approximately 25 feet away from where it is now but I think it would be much safer for pedestrians to cross on to that side of Ferry. In order to make the left turn you need to drive over the cross walk. Some drivers behind are inpatient and don’t want to wait and they whip around on the right side to pass which is very dangerous if someone has come in to the crosswalk.

Pedestrian Safety Study Request ArchivedHopkins Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The Heightsthe curb extension at Hopkins and Palisade was never completed. as a result people continue to frequently Park in the crosswalk while getting Dunkin' donuts. while each car is only there for a few minutes, the near endless string of people parking there means that this crosswalk is blocked nigh on constantly. Freaking do something

Vacant Building/Lot Archived26 Manhattan Ave Jersey City, New Jersey, 07307 - The HeightsThere are no boards on the windows which allows for kids to regularly climb in and cause trouble. Smashing windows. Setting fires. Both the fire department and Jersey City police have been called out several times. It has been this way for several years now and has become a very serious problem. Nothing has been done to curb these problems. We, the neighbors, are very worried about the risk of fire. Please can someone help us? We have been ignored for far too long.

General Park Maintenance Request Archived109 Ogden Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The HeightsCan we have this sign Removed please. Some Scrooge decided to throw out all the toys in the park. For years, toys that outgrew children or were no longer in use were brought to this park allowing children to play. It was a nice community of sharing. Seems like a common theme with everything now in this city….some miserable out of state transplant decides to complain. This city needs less signs and more chill people. Thanks.

Construction on Street/Sidewalk Archived52 St Pauls Ave Jersey City, NJ 07306, USA - The Heightsthe entire sidewalk has been torn up and there is zero accommodation for people walking. we need some sort of temporary walkway and cones or barriers so that people walking can get through here without taking their life in their hands on one of the cities High Injury Network streets Baldwin avenue.

Speed Hump Request ArchivedLienau Pl & Reservoir Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The HeightsThis is a very dangerous intersection (Lienau Place and Reservoir Avenue), despite lots of foot traffic and close proximity to a popular park. Cars fly through the intersection and visibility is limited by vehicles often parking in the crosswalk. There needs to be a stop sign installed here before someone gets hurt. I also suggest another speed hump to help combat the frequent speeding. This is a local residential street and appears to now be favored by aggressive through traffic.

Pedestrian Safety Request AcknowledgedPalisade Ave & Paterson Plank Rd Union City, NJ, 07087, USA - The HeightsThe signaling was recently redone on the corner of Paterson Plank Rd and Palisade Ave. Not only does there seem to be more car congestion and haphazard turning than before, but now pedestrians must wait for two complete traffic cycles to cross (which I just timed at 5:30pm to be approximately 4 minutes). This is leading to large groups of pedestrians waiting on these small, unsafe corners. The signaling is now a pedestrian all way, which while a great idea, only gives pedestrians about 16 seconds to cross. A few days ago I saw an elderly woman unable to make the full crossing of both streets in that amount of time. So, she waited, which means it took her nearly 9 minutes to traverse a single intersection. This is seriously negatively impacting the most vulnerable street users and completely disincentivizes pedestrian traffic. Please fix this—pedestrians should have the same priority as cars and be able to go after both ways of traffic go.

373-375 Baldwin Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The HeightsI would again request that the traffic pattern at Baldwin and the 139 be reverted back to its old pattern where North and Southbound traffic have delayed green lights. There was a serious accident at this intersection a few nights ago, and every day I see numerous "close calls." The intersection has become a free-for-all. To remedy, either add turn arrows or change the traffic pattern so northbound and southbound are not proceeding at the same time. Currently it's a huge hazard for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

Pedestrian Safety Study Request ArchivedNew York Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The HeightsCars very often don't stop for pedestrians crossing Palisade at this crossing on Booraem Ave. Yesterday, 6/29 I stopped before the crossing to let a couple with a baby stroller to cross. They waited for the coming traffic to stop which tool awhile. When they started crossing they were almost hit but a car that came behind me on the right. Some drivers are just reckless. This guy then yelled at this couple for crossing Palisade. Can we have more police presence here to calm these type of drivers please? Maybe blinking light signs here would help? Thank you.
