  • Hopkins Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The Heights
the curb extension at Hopkins and Palisade was never completed. as a result people continue to frequently Park in the crosswalk while getting Dunkin' donuts. while each car is only there for a few minutes, the near endless string of people parking there means that this crosswalk is blocked nigh on constantly. Freaking do something
  • 26 Manhattan Ave Jersey City, New Jersey, 07307 - The Heights
There are no boards on the windows which allows for kids to regularly climb in and cause trouble. Smashing windows. Setting fires. Both the fire department and Jersey City police have been called out several times. It has been this way for several years now and has become a very serious problem. Nothing has been done to curb these problems. We, the neighbors, are very worried about the risk of fire. Please can someone help us? We have been ignored for far too long.
  • Rt-139 W & Baldwin Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
sidewalk completely blocked. pedestrians forced into traffic at fatal intersection
  • 52 St Pauls Ave Jersey City, NJ 07306, USA - The Heights
the entire sidewalk has been torn up and there is zero accommodation for people walking. we need some sort of temporary walkway and cones or barriers so that people walking can get through here without taking their life in their hands on one of the cities High Injury Network streets Baldwin avenue.
  • New York Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Cars very often don't stop for pedestrians crossing Palisade at this crossing on Booraem Ave. Yesterday, 6/29 I stopped before the crossing to let a couple with a baby stroller to cross. They waited for the coming traffic to stop which tool awhile. When they started crossing they were almost hit but a car that came behind me on the right. Some drivers are just reckless. This guy then yelled at this couple for crossing Palisade. Can we have more police presence here to calm these type of drivers please? Maybe blinking light signs here would help? Thank you.
  • 109 Ogden Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Can we have this sign Removed please. Some Scrooge decided to throw out all the toys in the park. For years, toys that outgrew children or were no longer in use were brought to this park allowing children to play. It was a nice community of sharing. Seems like a common theme with everything now in this city….some miserable out of state transplant decides to complain. This city needs less signs and more chill people. Thanks.
  • 373-375 Baldwin Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The Heights
I would again request that the traffic pattern at Baldwin and the 139 be reverted back to its old pattern where North and Southbound traffic have delayed green lights. There was a serious accident at this intersection a few nights ago, and every day I see numerous "close calls." The intersection has become a free-for-all. To remedy, either add turn arrows or change the traffic pattern so northbound and southbound are not proceeding at the same time. Currently it's a huge hazard for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
  • Lienau Pl & Reservoir Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
This is a very dangerous intersection (Lienau Place and Reservoir Avenue), despite lots of foot traffic and close proximity to a popular park. Cars fly through the intersection and visibility is limited by vehicles often parking in the crosswalk. There needs to be a stop sign installed here before someone gets hurt. I also suggest another speed hump to help combat the frequent speeding. This is a local residential street and appears to now be favored by aggressive through traffic.
  • Bowers St & Milton Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
There needs to be a four way stop sign in this intersection .... too much traffic and ive seen too many non reported accidents because of this ... we need action to protect the neighborhood from any further harm specially when cars are speeding coming from the blvd !!!
  • 39 New York Ave Jersey City NJ 07307, United States - The Heights
Road crew regularly takes over NY Ave with no warning to residents or businesses on this stretch that has no other access This morning from 39 NY Ave down to the 5050 Building were flat bed trucks parked in both lanes the entire way, essentially making two lanes into one during morning rush hour. I have dash cam footage of this. The roads were not blocked off yet, this was a nightmare for residents & commuters No one involved in these projects are doing traffic control making this an absolute safety concern Residents of Sawyer are not given access to the road we live on when the only two access points are closed off and no one patrolling to allow local traffic through PLEASE require a trooper or worker to PROPERLY control traffic instead of having the road blocked and ignored i have so many videos & photos from many different days of how hazardous this is. They routinely start before 7 and go after 5 so we cant even plan in advance. I'd be more than happy to discuss further if needed.-
  • 44-74 New York Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
The sidewalk on NY Ave has become very narrow. My family travels this way to and from school. Please have the sidewalk routinely checked and cleaned as we head into Winter.
  • 59 Montrose Ave Jersey City NJ 07307, United States - The Heights

I’m writing to voice concern and request immediate action regarding abandoned buildings at 59 Montrose Avenue, and its adjoining properties on Manhattan Avenue in The Heights.

Here is a brief description of the state of these dilapidated properties:

Mixed residential and commercial abandoned for 20+ years (according to longtime residents of the neighborhood)

Missing/broken windows, allowing for rain and animals to further their erosion

Visible structural and cosmetic damage observable from the exterior due to decades of neglect

Graffiti marking the outside of these properties, with no attempts of removal

These properties frequently come up as a subject of frustration on local neighborhood social media groups.

These properties present a potential safety risk from unmitigated decay. They also invite unwanted activity, such as graffiti, which reduces a sense of safety and order on these streets.

Perhaps most importantly, these buildings represent a missed opportunity. These buildings are perfect candidates for development and much-needed commercial (which these lots are zoned for), which is largely missing from this area of the neighborhood. Freeing these lots up to be developed would be in line with the objectives set out in the Jersey City Master Plan.

While I do see 59 Montrose Ave on the Housing Preservations list of Vacant Properties, after decades of neglect, the city must do something to force the hand of the property owners for the betterment of this community.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
