1 Norcross Street Alpharetta, Georgia - Alpharetta
At 730PM on Thursday, August 23, I attempted to shop at the Publix location bounded by Haynes Bridge and Hwy 9. Due to the Mayors Challenge Run, the City parking deck was closed.
As it was Thursday evening, a prime restaurant roaming night in downtown Alpharetta, and Food Truck Night, there were numerous vehicles in downtown, all seeking a place to park. Since the deck was closed, hundreds of cars ended up parked in the Publix shopping center lot, leaving less than 10 spaces for customers of the store.
When I inquired at Publix why they did not contact someone with the City, they enlightened me that the City of Alpharetta had already designated all of its officers to the Mayor’s Challenge, leaving none for off-duty patrol of the shopping center lot. Moreover, they stated that the City of Alpharetta would not allow Publix to hire other officers from other jurisdictions to cover the lot patrol. As a result, cars were parked all over the lot, some narrowing pass through lanes to one car width.
Point in fact, 2 City of Alpharetta patrol cars were parked in the back lot of Publix at the time – only adding to the reduction of parking capacity. As official vehicles, couldn’t they have parked somewhere else???
This evening appeared to be a most unfriendly approach to downtown businesses and citizens – cutting off parking access, not providing support to a local business that was taken advantage of – all for the Mayor’s Challenge. Perhaps someone can re-think these events in the future to insure that Alpharetta can support it citizens, its businesses, and its Mayor without negatively impacting anyone.

The crosswalk button in front of Smomejack is not working.
  • Academy St & Manning St Alpharetta, GA, 30009, USA - Alpharetta
An ADA/stroller ramp on the curb on Academy just east of Hwy 9 (entrance to Wells Fargo) sure would make it easier to navigate to and from downtown events and make downtown generally more walkable.

There is a partially fallen tree right along the tee line outside the exit of Haynes Bridge Middle School on Haynes Bridge Rd. It’s only being held up by another tree. One forceful wind and it will fall, landing on a drivers car, or even worse, on a child walking to/from school. I’m not sure if this is the correct category, but someone’s life could be in serious danger.

Lawn getting overgrown, especially in backyard. This can cause a haven for snakes and other animals. Neighbors are complaining and we are not sure if house is vacant or not.
  • 1756–1798 Bates Rd Alpharetta 30009, United States - Alpharetta
The pedestrian lights that were installed by builder recently are not working or turned on. We the Bates Road residents reached out to city officials many times before to install them earlier and now builder installed them and didn’t turn on.
We also informed builder appointed HOA weeks ago, but there is corrective action taken.
Please take necessary action to fix the lights and make sure the builder follows the city code before they close and move on.
  • 3100-3258 Old Milton Pkwy Alpharetta, GA 30022, USA - Alpharetta
The traffic in the last few days on Old Milton Pkwy (east bound) has gotten progressively worse. Alot of traffic exiting from 400 NB try to cut across 3 lanes of traffic to turn onto Morris Rd. This problem was minimized when the "anti lane change bollards" were installed, but they have been destroyed or removed. This traffic situation gets so bad 400 SB traffic backs up onto 400 from the exit lane. Have you changed the traffic signal timmimg or can you replace the bollards or fill them with concrete? Thanks for your time.

Please add bollards to keep southbound kimball bridge traffic separate. The cars turning right onto kimball bridge from north point parkway do not stay in their designated lane. During the evening rush hour, it is very difficult for those turning right onto kimball or going straight through the intersection because the left lane keeps getting clogged with people merging too early.
  • Windward Plaza Alpharetta, GA 30005, USA - Alpharetta
I believe traffic would flow better here if this light was re-timed. North and southbound flows get green lights at the same time. With no left turn lanes, traffic becomes a standstill while those turning left yield to each other. This is especially bad at lunchtime during the week and during the afternoon rush when the office parks let out. I suggest allowing only northbound to go, then southbound. The nearby light at Windward and Alderman functions as I describe and traffic flows much better.

Heading West on Old Milton approaching North Point Prkwy there are a number of large pot holes. These cover both sides of the street and are being hazardous each day when navigating around them during busy traffic.

I've been observing the number of cars and the duration of this light for over a month now.(I pass thru the intersection M-F). I am counting at least 50 cars waiting for the light to change traveling on Rucker compared to maybe 10-12 traveling and/or waiting on Wills Rd. Today the traffic was even worse. Worse than ever. Rucker east bound was backed up to (at a standstill) from Mid Broadwell and very heavy all the way to Houze Rd. The light was red twice while in view of the light...while NO cars traversed north/south after the first 7 seconds. I was there long enough to count 52 cars waiting to go East and west. There were many more behind me but I did not count them. This is a long standing problem, getting worse daily...but today was extreme. I was 30 minutes late for my dr. appt. (not the issue, but just to give you an idea how badly that light is timed.
