Anything you deem a mess or needs to be fixed
Intersection Of Bridge & Washington Streets City of Salem, MA - City of SalemI have previously written about the need for signs and line painting need at this increasingly dangerous intersection. People keep forcing their way over after the lights on both Bridge and Washington streets to avoid the on ramp to 114 and continue on Bridge Street. There are numerous near misses each day that I witness and so I'm sure countless more. People also don't yield on green to turn left onto Washington from Bridge street, and the intersection is a mess. I can't just blame it on aggressive driving since the signage is non-existent and there are virtually no lines painted on this area. With all the out of state tourists and new train garage, this is just getting worse and worse. Can't the city put up "right turn only" signs for the right lane on Bridge going to 114, and paint lines for all sides of this intersection?! When I last reported this issues, it was closed, but nothing has changed. Is there any kind of plan to make this intersection safer? Do we have to wait for a major car crash or pedestrian death to get the city to address this issue?
68 Essex St Salem, MA 01970, USA - City of SalemThis busy street has just one official crosswalk on this stretch of road, and the lines are very faint! It hasn't been painted in years. People cross here all the time to get to the common (including many children and dogs) and drivers whiz by very quickly. Please please please repaint the lines, and maybe add more for visibility (like the green paint that's in other crosswalks). Signage would also help.
56 Forrester Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of SalemDrug dealer located in this building. Why can't the police do anything about this?
Canal St And Mill St Salem, Massachusetts - City of SalemJust as what happened at Canal and Loring/Jefferson, the light timing has been changed for left turns and it is terrible. Perhaps if it was a two-lane the whole street it would work, but the way it is now is horrible. Backed up all wkd and Friday night rush hour because the left turn signal lets 3 cars go through! It was backed up past bagel world, with no communication from the city of this change, etc. That would not have helped though, as the timing is terrible. It should be like it was before, where it stays green for a while just for left turns. You have people backed up who all want to go straight but cannot because all the left-turn people are stuck. Honestly, it seems the new parking director does not actually DRIVE around Salem, but walks to and from his job each day. The light at Loring/Jefferson now creates backups for over a mile regularly because of the left-turn yellow flashing lasting for 3 seconds. Again, might work if it was a two-lane the whole way, but it is not. Please fix this issue.
City Wide Salem, Massachusetts - City of SalemIt appears the city wide paving will end in a few days leaving many streets unfinished with raised areas at the end of each street as well as driveways. Man holes on Jackson St are 4 inches below grade. City plows will get destroyed this winter as will many cars. This is a disgrace and someone should be held accountable. Why has the paving schedule of 4 weeks failed?
234 Bridge Street Salem, MA 01970, USA - City of SalemAt the crosswalk exiting/entering the train station from Washington St., the melting snow between the snowbanks has created a small lake. It is 8" deep and 6'x6' so too wide (for most of us) to jump. It is deep enough that you need higher than ankle boots to walk through. One person climbed the snowbank to avoid it tonight (after our almost 2 hour commute) and thankfully didn't lose his footing at the top and fall into the oncoming cars. Could the snowbank be modified or cleared so the water has somewhere to runoff to please ? This is also the same area where people have commented several times about the lack of plowing to the curb, making cars jockey for space from 2 lanes down to 'an unexpected' 1. Not a good combo to have people jumping Lake Washington or climbing Mount Washington and falling or jumping into a car...
53 Highland Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of SalemI am re-posting with the correct addresses, they are from 51 to 59 Highland st. again tonight I had to walk in the street! (I am Disabled with knee replacement in April, I can not run from and dodge cars when I am forced to walk in the street every night for years, All the cars here park on the sidewalk. They got ticketed once but still park "on the sidewalk so your forced to walk in the street! Its on the Salem side of Highland st. and it not like they don't have a driveway because they do! SPD needs to start ticketing these cars. I was nearly hit by a car trying to walk my dog in the street around all the cars on the sidewalk! Apparently the law does not apply to these people!) https://www.municode.com/library/ma/salem/codes/traffic?nodeId=SATRORSAMA_ARTVPA

8 Harbor Street Salem, MA 01970, USA - City of SalemI walk past this little park twice a day, and twice a day it's full of trash, used condoms, and the occasional needle. Homeless and drug addicts are often hassling those passing by. I understand the homeless might have nowhere to go, but the area should at least be cleaned up a bit. Is this not a priority because it's in a lower-income part of the city?
Hospital Entrance At Jefferson Ave Salem, Massachusetts - City of SalemThis area was torn up a couple of years ago and never put back to normal, leaving large dips and raises along with potholes. The stretch from the hospital entrance to the DPW is a mess and really needs to be re-paved. The railroad tracks themselves have raised up as well and it is a hazardous bump now. Have already called the Engineer office and the DPW and both say they know it is an issue but it is not up to be fixed. Mayor Driscoll said in her FYI Salem newsletter to report such issues here.

I am concerned about the regular, INTENTIONAL feeding of junk food to wildlife that has been going on for years in the driveway of Olde Salem Greens Golf Course. I have reported this issue to Park & Recreation and to Golf Course staff, to no avail. Today's "offering" is a 15 foot long swath of bread, crackers or chips, pink heart candy, popcorn, and chocolate bars.
The problem with leaving this food out is multifold.
1) It is unsightly litter.
2) It is an unnatural and unhealthful diet for wildlife. Feeding the wrong diet to deer can kill them. Feeding bread to waterfowl causes deadly angel wing disease.
3) It attracts and creates nuisance animals - rats, raccoons, coyotes. It is well-known that feeding coyotes habituates them to people, leading to potentially dangerous interactions between coyotes and pets or even people.
4) This is a popular dog-walking spot, and this food is unhealthful and potentially toxic to dogs.
Would you please speak with the nice gentleman who I believe lives across the street and I believe is the person feeding wildlife on city property, and ask him to stop. Thank you.

3/2/15 @ 3:30pm Tested street water line and it's still frozen !!!! Can anyone tell me who in the city government would go two week with their water coming in through a garden hose without enough water pressure to even take a shower ??????
I'm not getting any real feed back from the city. Is the resource they talked about the spring thaw !!!!
I am one major frustrated and angry taxpayer now. Understanding can only go so far !!!!!
