Proctor's Ledge is a mess. It was promised to be kept well groomed, but half of the trees and shrubs are dead and it is inundated with weeds to the point it can't be distinguished where the weeds end and the shrubs begin. It is like that on Proctor St. as well. What a shame for relatives of ancestors. WHEN new trees and shrubs are planted, they will need to be kept up and watered.

Just as what happened at Canal and Loring/Jefferson, the light timing has been changed for left turns and it is terrible. Perhaps if it was a two-lane the whole street it would work, but the way it is now is horrible. Backed up all wkd and Friday night rush hour because the left turn signal lets 3 cars go through! It was backed up past bagel world, with no communication from the city of this change, etc. That would not have helped though, as the timing is terrible. It should be like it was before, where it stays green for a while just for left turns. You have people backed up who all want to go straight but cannot because all the left-turn people are stuck. Honestly, it seems the new parking director does not actually DRIVE around Salem, but walks to and from his job each day. The light at Loring/Jefferson now creates backups for over a mile regularly because of the left-turn yellow flashing lasting for 3 seconds. Again, might work if it was a two-lane the whole way, but it is not. Please fix this issue.

Pot hole on the north bound lane across from coffee time. Blew my tire out, and I was only doing 15 mph.

This was caused by a private contractor installing utilities. Not by Verizon or nat grid, they almost always do a good job repairing their work.
The city needs to crack down on these private contractors getting paid to dig up OUR TAX PAID ROADS, then doing a crappy job of repaving!
If they dig it up, and don't do a quality repair, they should be fined, and made to fix, or no more permits allowed in this town.

This spot has still not been cleared. It's a crosswalk that's normally very used and hasn't been all week. Our kids can't get to their school bus stop. Terribly dangerous and being completely ignored.

This busy street has just one official crosswalk on this stretch of road, and the lines are very faint! It hasn't been painted in years. People cross here all the time to get to the common (including many children and dogs) and drivers whiz by very quickly. Please please please repaint the lines, and maybe add more for visibility (like the green paint that's in other crosswalks). Signage would also help.

Sidewalk trees are dying! Five trees on Flint St between Essex and Warren appear to be infected with a fungus. Their leaves turn brown and fall off. An additional six or seven trees on Essex (heading toward Highland Ave) and Warren are also affected. Is there a remedy?

The canal behind the building has much debris in the form of rusted old carts, bicycles, etc. We've reported it before, like 8 months ago, fyi. I think we submitted an image then too. I don't have one readily available now. Thank you!

This 15 foot stump of a maple tree has been left standing for years because a telephone guy wire was connected to it. The cable was released this summer when all of the poles on the street were re-worked. The tree has started to grow fungus as seen in the photo. Please take the stump down this winter 2019. Thank you.

This area was torn up a couple of years ago and never put back to normal, leaving large dips and raises along with potholes. The stretch from the hospital entrance to the DPW is a mess and really needs to be re-paved. The railroad tracks themselves have raised up as well and it is a hazardous bump now. Have already called the Engineer office and the DPW and both say they know it is an issue but it is not up to be fixed. Mayor Driscoll said in her FYI Salem newsletter to report such issues here.

It is going to take a bucket loafer to clear the road. My cars are blocked in and cannot get out. We have been stuck since the storm.

I walk past this little park twice a day, and twice a day it's full of trash, used condoms, and the occasional needle. Homeless and drug addicts are often hassling those passing by. I understand the homeless might have nowhere to go, but the area should at least be cleaned up a bit. Is this not a priority because it's in a lower-income part of the city?
