  • 555 Main St New York, NY 10044, USA - Roosevelt Island
There is a dumpster behind M & Deli and side entrance to building 555 and directly across from RIOC offices. It is filthy, unsightly and a health hazard. In the evening it becomes a rat playground. Can't anything be done about this?
  • Roosevelt Island New York, NY - Roosevelt Island
What is our hurricane plan if they shut down the MTA and we experience flooding? How and where do we evacuate?
  • Tram Acknowledged
Roosevelt Island Tram - Roosevelt Island
Another winter has gone by and the tram still has no cooling controls, nor do the tram stations, which now with the new imprisoning glass sarcophagus cook waiting passengers in the noon day sun.

    Subject: Buses leaving early

I live at the octagon. I came downstairs at 8:28 this sat morning and the bus had already left. On tues I was waiting at the bus stop a full 2 minutes before it was supposed to leave and no bus. I own an iPhone, I think the time is accurate. Plus, I'm not the only one waiting, so I know it's not just me Please tell your bus drivers to wait till the scheduled time. Them leaving 2 minutes early means I arrive 15 minutes late to work.
    Thank you.

Can something be done to manage the families and children blocking the sidewalks outside of PS/IS 217 in the morning at 8:30 and in the afternoon at 2:45-3:15? I've asked the principal before, and I've offered solutions, but the school seems unwilling to touch this problem.
  • 20 River Road New York, NY - Roosevelt Island
The water coming to my apartment, as well as at least two other tenants, is dirty and bitter tasting. Management is very poorly responsive, tonight blaming it on the NYC water. 311 told me the problem is not city water. A sample was taken by management on 12/22/10, at my insistence, without results. The water is much worse again today.
  • Stop signs Archived
511 Main St New York, NY - Roosevelt Island
I'm very concerns about irresponsible drivers, many of them live on the Island. These drivers don't respect stop signs and they curse to the pedestrian if don't clear the way for them. Personally I have that experience few times, in one occasion a nurse from Gold water hospital she was very rude, and recently a doctor, I guess from the other hospital they don't stop down the ramp approaching Main street many of them do the same. The guards don't do anything about it I told one of them when right in from of him a car almost ran on top of me, and he just said OK, and walk away.
  • Road 5 Roosevelt ISland, NY - Roosevelt Island
Please provide some shelter at the Tram, the wind is brutal, and there is no shelter during the wait. At Minimum provide a shelter so that rain and sleet falling directly on passengers is reduced. The tacky heat lamps are no use at all. why not put a roof over that area and add more heat ?
  • Main St New York, NY - Roosevelt Island
The Summer Movie Series ended in September. The Icla da Silva Marrowthon was on October 15. Why are these events still posted on the Tram Screen? I have reported this issue several times. It was not fixed, although someone said it was. As of 10:11 pm on 10-26-11 the outdated events are still broadcast and new events (Fall for Arts was on October 15 and Halloween Parade is on October 28) are NOT listed. Who is in charge and why aren't they paying attention to the Tram screen as it relates to the calendar?
  • Bike pump Archived
543 Main St Manhattan, NY 10044, USA - Roosevelt Island

So, I've heard that a bike pump is available at all times at PSD. But every time I try to use what they have - a flimsy manual one - it's broken and they always send me to the bus garage where I can never get access.

Why don't we make RI more bike friendly? Why can't we install good ones - perhaps at the visitors center, another one at the lighthouse an another one at the gardens?

  • 576 580 Main St New York, NY - Roosevelt Island
There are a lot of cars at Motorgate that park outside the parking lines and as a result take up more than one space. Some cars park in the small car areas that are very big and this makes it difficult to get around the turns. Most of the parking lot lines are old, not clear or bright so a solution might be to paint these with a bright reflective paint. Also the rules should be enforced or penalty system agreed to make sure people parking follow the rules.

What is supposed to be gardens and something to enjoy has become all weeds and ugly.

IDEA: let's let some of the freen-thumbed islanders try their hands at planting their individual gardens!
