    1449-1499 9th Street Alameda, California - Alameda
How many people need to be run over (or nearly run over) at this intersection near Maya Lin School before the city takes action? I personally have almost been hit multiple times in the past 3 years with a group of small children while crossing in the crosswalk. Even with the crossing guard in the mornings and afternoons, there are cars that run through the intersection when pedestrians are in the crosswalk. Early action by the city will certain prevent lawsuits in the future.

As Sgt DeRespini correctly states, this is an issue with Planning. Can the Planning Dept request the organizers of the Antiques Faire to hire officers in order to ensure there is no gridlock?

West End residents are tired of being subjected to this hassles every month for the past several years. How much longer do we have to put up with this nuisance?

Well, you guys fixed these lights and they worked for a while, but now once again, the pedestrian walk signals are screwed up. They constantly go through a pedestrian countdown 24/7, even when pedestrians aren't around. Several times they are stuck, prompting me to actually get out of my car, walk over to the pedestrian walk button, where I press it, just so the light will change and I can then proceed with my vehicle! You DID have it fixed really great, where the lights were on sensor and changed the signal when a car approached, unless a pedestrian had actually pressed the button to walk. But now, it just goes on pedestrian walk 24/7, which is really annoying. Please fix. thanks!

On the Oak St side of the Kobe-Ya Restaurant, there is liquid run-off from the garbage of the business. This leakage smells like a mixture of rotting fish and rotting flesh. It leaks onto the sidewalk on Oak street. In the Autumn, there is a tree on that sidewalk and when the leaves fall and cover the garbage juice, it ferments and the smell is nauseating. I live nearby and lately, when I open my window that is down the street, the smell is so strong that it permeates through my house.

This has been going on for many years now (3 that I have noticed) and every year, around the hotter months, the garbage smell gets worse and worse. I have tried to contact the owners about it but I have gotten no response back.

Perhaps a solution would be for them to either double-bag their garbage or to regularly clean out the dumpster. I cannot stress enough how disgusting this smell is. Even walking past the garbage dumping area is nauseating.

  • 1600 Park Street Alameda, California - Alameda

I wish to report an extremely unsafe hazard that caused me bodily injury and could have caused even more severe injury or death. On the night of Wednesday, May 18 at approximately 11 pm, I was biking in Alameda. I turned right from Lincoln heading NE on Park Street towards the Park St. Bridge. There were no cars parked along Park and I rode on the right hand side, near the sidewalk to be safe from traffic. I had a front and rear light and was wearing a helmet. Suddenly, my front wheel hit a curb – completely detached from the side walk and with no visible signs, markers, reflectors or any thing to make it visible to a cyclist. I flew over my handle bars, hit the back right side of my head, my back right shoulder and rolled over having done a complete flip onto the curb-median. Though I am bruised and beat up, with pain in my AC joint, head, neck, and shoulder, I did not break anything (I went to the doctor and got x-rays), and I will recover. My bicycle was totaled (bent rim, shattered front fork, bent frame and I broke my helmet).

This curb is invisible at night. As the attached photo shows, it also has extremely low visibility in broad day light. I was not the first to hit this obstruction. At Alameda Bicycle, the staff there said they have heard of the same thing happening to others. I am certain I won’t be the last to hit this.

I am shocked that the city would place a curb with absolutely no visibility in the middle of a through fare for traffic and cyclists. I respectfully request, for the safety of both cyclists and vehicles, that you immediately remove this extreme hazard.

I am also curious, what possible reason can there be for putting this obstruction there?

This house has 3 cars/trucks in driveway all junk. Piles of other junk everywhere. It looks awful and is against code. Also the red truck in the picture often illegally parks on the red painted curb as you can see in google street view. Please have them haul the junk away.

  • Code Enforcement Acknowledged
1142 Regent Street Alameda, California - Alameda

The owner of 1142 Regent Street dumped concrete on his drive entrance. It was not done to any standard, and was done without permits. It is in the curb & gutter, disrupting the flow of stormwater. They put plastic grating in it, approximately 3" wide, along the length. The plastic grating is not to any standard and is deteriorating rapidly.

This looks like crap. If I wanted to have Oakland standards, I'd live in Oakland and pay less taxes. I don't live in Oakland, I live in Alameda. For a reason.

This is the second time I've reported this. Not sure what happened the first time, seems people in Public Works have short memories.

Can we get this fixed? It's a blight and needs to be rectified. At least make the owner redo their curb cut to code.
