2900 Dixwell Ave Hamden 06518, United States - Hamden
Non electric vehicles (like this one) are often parked in the only EV spot (other than a handicap space) in the lot. I have reported it repeatedly to the police department and it has almost always been someone working for the department. Since there are no statutes governing parking in an EV parking space, there is nothing the police department can do. The town of Hamden should consider an ordinance to allow police enforcement of posted parking restrictions on EV parking spots. Also, it doesn’t make sense to have one of the only two EV spots restricted to handicap parking. I have never seen a vehicle parked there.

    Dear Mayor of Hamden,

I just sent a fix-it report to the Engineering department and want to make sure that you have a copy of what I sent. Below is what I wrote.

"I sent a letter (by certified mail) to Mark Austin, Hamden Town Engineer, on May 24, 2018 asking the town to repair the sidewalk on Thornton Street near the corner of Whitney Avenue, as it is in dire and dangerous condition, as you can see from the attached photo. None of the cement pieces are stable and I fear that in its condition, it is inevitable that somebody will fall and possibly suffer serious injury.

In the letter sent on May 24, 2018, I included a letter signed by several neighbors who are witness to the unsafe condition of the sidewalk and join me in the request for immediate repair in order in order to make it safe.

You can reach me at 203.288.8100 if you have any questions.

    I thank you in advance.

    Sincerely,

John Weinstein, Member of Branford Property Management, Owner of the building located at 1834 - 1842 Whitney Avenue."

Large potholes. Road has not been repaired in ten years. Overgrowth onboth sides of road. Branches falling from dead trees. Fallen branch blocking one side of road
  • 5 Hampton Road - Hamden
There are no speed limit signs or caution-children signs on Colonial Drive. The cars dangerously fast on this street from Whitney Ave. to Evergreen Ave. and back. My parents live on this street and babysit my children several days a week, and are afraid to let the children out in the yard for fear that a speeding car will lose control. Several years ago a speeding driver came speeding down Colonial, missed the turn onto Hampton Rd. and crashed into my parents house and landed in the backyard. It's happened before and is bound to happen again. These signs need to be replaced and there needs to be stricter monitoring of this area.
  • 720–746 Mount Carmel Ave Hamden 06518, United States - Quinnipiac University
Bicyclist seriously injured from hitting pothole on this street. Emergency vehicles called and bicyclist treated via ambulance transport to hospital. Deteriorating road conditions with serious potholes are making this road dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists, and cars.
  • 746 Mt Carmel Ave Hamden, Connecticut - Quinnipiac University
Once again, there was an accident on the road due to the extremely dangerous conditions. The hill between 720 and 746 is absolutely destroyed and full of deep, sharp holes. I understand the town is very busy with storm cleanup and I thank them for their work. But this road has been in total disrepair for the last couple of years. Vehicles continue to swerve and drive on opposite sides of the road to avoid the deep holes that surely cause damage to vehicle wheels and suspension components. Roads in Hamden with far less traffic and better conditions are repaved while Mt Carmel continues to degrade further and more accidents occur. Again thanks to Public Works for all the hard work they continue to do. Please repave.

  • 819 Tuttle Ave CT 06518 - Hamden
    Pavement is extremely torn up.
  • 35 Maher Ave Hamden, Connecticut - Hamden
The sidewalk directly in front of our house located at 35 Maher Ave has become an accident waiting to happen. The sidewalk is raised up and cracked causing a portion of it to be higher than the res. This is now a dangerous area to walk over if not paying attention. Last week we had someone trip and get hurt in front of our house and feel like it is our responsibility to report this matter. There use to be a tree in the area where the sidewalk is raised and thinking the roots over time have caused this cracking.
  • 596 New Rd CT 06518 - Quinnipiac University
This part of New Road is really awful. It appears to be due to a lack of drainage: just a few blocks down, there is adequate drainage, and the pavement is beautiful.
