Notified About

  • Downing Street New Haven, CT - Chatham Square
Downing Street and many of the side streets in Fair Haven have become a mecca for excessive speed and racing. I saw a driver go down Downing Street going about 100 miles per hour early this evening. Moments after he blew through the intersection of Downing and Chatham headed northbound, a man with a child in a carrier on the back of his bike crossed this same intersection. Please, NHPD, take notice. This is incredibly dangerous!
  • Parks Request Acknowledged
101-123 E Pearl St New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Chatham Square
Great location for a Fair Haven dog park. I'll upload a video as well and try to do quick research on who owns the property and associated parking lot.
  • 244-276 Front St New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Chatham Square
Profane graffiti on jungle gym at park. Some graffiti references gangs. Please remove ASAP!
  • Hazardous crosswalk Acknowledged
254 Front St New Haven, CT 06513 - Chatham Square
The crosswalk at Lewis St Park has no ADA curb cut on the Oyster Cove Condo side. Pushing a baby carriage, one is forced to walk into oncoming traffic that doesn't stop at the stop sign at Lewis and Front as one maneuvers to make the driveway curb cut at the Oyster Cove active driveway.
  • Maltby And Grafton New Haven, CT - Chatham Square
These two, at it again, pulling wheelies up and down Maltby and Clinton
  • 100-300 Dover Street New Haven, CT - Chatham Square

We have reported this issue a few times in the last couple of years. Vehicles travel way in excess of the posted speed limit day & night. A couple of times a flashing "SLOW DOWN" sign with the posted speed is placed in the street. It helps temporarily while the sign is there, then traffic speeds up again when the sign is removed.

SPEED BUMPS MUST BE PLACED ON THIS STREET.

We are starting to wonder why the lack of interest from the New Haven Traffic & Parking Dept on this issue. Is somebody "connected" putting the squash on the request for some reason?? Or worse, is it thought by the powers that be that 'they're only renters' and not worth the extra expense of a few yards of blacktop??

SPEED BUMPS have been placed on streets much the same as Dover on "the other side of the tracks" - like Canner St and other streets off Willow.

It is such a NO BRAINER solution to slow down traffic.

PLEASE HELP US OVER HERE IN THE HOOD!! If you read this please click "I want this fixed too", even if you just agree with the SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN and aren't familiar with our particular street.

Maybe some action can be taken this time. Please, Traffic & Parking Department...

  • Atwater Street New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Chatham Square
in the block of atwater street between chatham and grafton two house people sit on the porch selling
  • 197 Front St New Haven, CT 06513 - Chatham Square
Cars are now drag racing on Front Street b/w Lewis and Grand. Last weekend, two drag-racing cars got into a accident plowing into the Oyster Cove Condos fence. Many of us park on the street as we do not have driveways. Two cars, racing side-by-side is a disaster waiting to happen - hitting cars or people.WE NEED SPPED BUMPS ALOG THIS STRETCH!!!!
  • Clinton Ave/Chatham Square New Haven, CT - Chatham Square
Today (1/1/12), my husband and I witnessed two DIFFERENT sets of dirt bike riding teens riding very recklessly up and down Clinton Ave as well as the side streets around Chatham Square. Not only does this pose a major safety concern as there is no regard for stop signs/lights and other vehicles, but the riders are so brazen that they ride around in the middle of the day and even pulled up next to us as we walked our dogs, did their little "tricks" and then burned out as we shouted to them that we were calling the police. We did call the non-emergency number and were told that a patrol car would be sent out, but it would be more helpful if we had an origination address to report (?!?! not sure how that could be possible, but that is besides the point). The racing continued for a good part of the afternoon, so I'm not sure if anyone followed through on our call.
The bottom line is that someone is going to get hurt and the lack of response is sending the wrong message (well, the warmer than usual weather isn't helping either, but this is an issue that happens all year long). I understand that the NHPD isn't going to engage in any high speed chases, but maybe some increased patrol presence would send the message to these individuals to find something (better) to do.
  • 293 Clinton Avenue New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Chatham Square
Like clockwork; the dirt bikes out again at first sign of Spring. Can the NHPD let the community know what more needs to be done? This reckless and repeated violation of the law (by the same kids every year) has been going on for over 5+ years now. Mayor, Chief: the community has come through with their end of the deal helping support enforcement laws, what systematic approach is being implemented to finally rid the City of this constant attack on life quality?
  • 19 Clinton Ave New Haven, CT 06513 - Chatham Square

Now that the New Haven Public School System is not using Strong School (corner of Grand and Clinton) Avenues, as swing space there is no one monitoring the use and abuse of the park and parking lot behind the school. Most users are children under parental supervision but there is an increasing number of users without children hanging out at the park, drinking, destroying the rubberized ground cover around the playscape by pulling it out and throwing it out on the street (and on to my property). Neighbors have reported drug use and prostitution.

The neighborhood needs an expeditious determination as to what the NHPS system is planning to do with this property. We need to be told the plan and the time table.

In the meanwhile it would help if there were standing orders to have police driving by ask anyone on the property, not accompanying children under 12 to please move.

  • 606 Ferry Street New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Chatham Square
I have frequently seen women in front of this store who appear to be prostitutes/drug addicts. Can the police please look into this?
