Laurel Hills and Glen Laurel

A garbage truck knocked over our mailbox today. Interesting coincidence that we have complained that our recycling hadn't been picked up for the last two collections. I expect the City of Raleigh to replace our mailbox.

Need a sidewalk before people are hit by fast drivers on Laurel Hills Rd. I see many people walking in the road day and evening with dogs or kids or just for exercise. Drivers come around curves too fast for people to move into the grass. We need a sidewalk. Is there a plan for one and when can it be installed. This is a safety concern.

There are three trailers on the right as you head outbound on Edward mills road towards the mall. They are unsafe and falling down. They need to be removed cause they are unoccupied and appear to be from an old construction project

The brush along this corner has grown tall right up against the road, which has created a blind corner for cars going either direction. It's particularly dangerous riding a bike down the hill against a car coming up the hill that takes the corner too tight.

Driving down Picardy Drive towards Crabtree Creek, on the right side towards the bottom (before the "Private Road"), recent rains have created small gullies along the edge of the pavement, some of which are beginning to undercut the asphalt.

This yard has not been mowed in months and the grass has gone to seed. There are also two rugs just hanging over the front railing.

A deer crossing sign is needed along Laurel Hills Rd. The street is relatively busy and there are many cars exceeding the posted speed limit (an issue being dealt with at the moment with the city pursuing possible speed bumps). There are 5-10 deer that cross the street from the north side to go down to Hester Pond / Laurel Hills Lake multiple times a day, and we have witnessed several very close calls with cars having to brake hard or deer almost getting hit.

Grass and weeds have grown tall and also spread across the walkway and down into the gutter. It is very difficult to walk single file on the sidewalk and impossible to walk next to another person. Also, the grass has grown into the gutter area affecting not only the appearance but also the drainage. I am not sure if this is a city issue or one for Progress/Duke energy. The affected area is directly in front of the towers and power lines that cross Edwards Mill Road.

There are dead trees on the vacant lot beside 4107 Laurel Hills Drive, one of which is broken (rotted through) at the base and leaning on another tree limb. A hard wind could cause the tree to fall into and block the road, possibly taking power lines with it. It will definitely fall into the road if not removed, just a matter of time and weather.

Dump trucks are unloading dirt at the end of Galax Drive without silt fences or any other protection. The area is right next to Crabtree Creek and is an area prone to flooding. Dump trucks are coming from a construction project at the intersection of White Pine and Laurel Hills Road.
