Forbes Ave New Haven, CT 00 - Annex
Be very careful crossing the tracks on your bike. Go slow and cross perpendicular to the rails. Signage is desperately needed. See http://groups.yahoo.com/group/elmcitycycling/message/8023
82 Court St New Haven, CT 06511 - Wooster SquareThe bridge on Court Street between State and Artizan is unbelievably dark. The same bridge on Chapel has 2 lights and yet far more people travel via Court from downtown to get home to Wooster Square. Please fix!
374 East St New Haven, CT 06511 - Mill River
On my way home from work yesterday I came across this!
5 off road (2 dirt bikes and 3 quads) barreling down East Street at top speed.
They blew through the light, causing oncoming traffic to screech to a stop as they continued to tear down the street at top speed.
I managed to take a picture as fast as I could.
What can be done about this???

Google is planning to build, and test ultra-high speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the country. They will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. Google will offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000, and potentially up to 500,000 people.

Chester Bowles Hwy Middletown, CT 06457, USA - MiddletownI hear from friends and relatives that this has been a problem for years. Every week or two, I see some kind of rear-ending on this on-ramp. Tow trucks and police cars are constantly bringing traffic there to a standstill. One need only look at the shoulder of the on-ramp to see all kinds of smashed car debris -- taillight shards and bumper scraps. Even if you're not involved in an accident here, it's still incredibly difficult to wait at the yield sign and crane your neck far over your left shoulder to try and merge onto Rt. 9. Something's gotta change here to make it safer!
1423 Quinnipiac Ave New Haven , CT - QuinnipiacI am completely disgusted how the NHPD and HANH are both handling the drug trafficking in this area. On several occasions I have seen with my own eyes the exchanges in broad daylight. Like any other concerned citizen, I have contacted the NHPD provided them with plates and discriptions of the seller and buyer for years, and still no changes. Sad part is they know who these kids are. These condo complexes are within 1500 feet of an elementary school. Children are seen everywhere in this area. It makes me sick to my stomach to see what they are being exposed to. I am sick and tired of this and unfortunately resorted to moving. I have been a long time New Haven resident and feel ashamed to call it my home. What will need to happen in order for change to take place???
141-199 Highland St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Prospect Hill
Speeding on Highland Street has created an extremely unsafe situation, especially at pick-up and drop-off times at a local preschool here. Yesterday, at about 4:30 PM, a parent's car door was damaged by a speeding car (which did not stop). Thankfully, neither the parent NOR the child was injured. However, there are young children getting in and out of cars, being dropped off by caregivers on foot and by bike, and being escorted across the street here.
Please, we need this speeding curtailed and traffic calming measures implemented before a tragic incident occurs here.
UPDATE: The city and the school now are working together on this-- but in good conscience, we cannot close the issue since it has yet to be fixed.
1425 Quinnipiac Ave New Haven, Connecticut - QuinnipiacPlease help us set up armed patrols in the 1425 Quinnipiac area. There is a large amount of drug activity from the New Haven public housing authority (Saint Anthony 1, 2, and the Rowe Houses beginning on 1378 Quinnipiac Ave) as well as Quinnipiac Terrace owned and managed by Trinity Management Company. We've been complaining to the NHPD, Sgt. Anastasio and previous district managers with absolutely no progress. People have been complaining to the police dept and after reviewing comments here on Seeclickfix it has been an ongoing issue since 2010! In 2011 the condo association got together with a petition which was sent to State Senator Martin Looney, Mayor Destefano, Rosa DeLaura, Police Chief Esserman, Sgt. Anastatio, Gov. Malloy, Senator Blumenthal, and US Attorney Stein. We did not receive a response back from any of these individuals to comment on our concerns. We have 2 foreclosures in our condo because the owners could not take the crimes committed and rapid drug dealer in our complex with no response from our police department, so they just give up and let their condos go. Our unit owners are scared to let their children play outside due to the fear of the rapid drug dealing and the quality of life. NHPD has abandoned the residences of Quinnipiac Ave and let the drug dealers deal drugs with complete immunity. If anyone would like to help to start an armed patrol or have the contact for the Rabbi in Westville that started an armed patrol there a few years ago, it would be appreciated. The only way to get our community back is if we take it back!
805 Whitney Avenue New Haven Connecticut - East RockNeither we nor our neighbors can currently cross safely to Edgerton Park and Saint Thomas Church on the other side of the avenue. Cars are driving too fast for this residential area (no one is respecting the 25 miles/hour speed limit) and the next pedestrian crossings on East Rock road and across from the Eli museum are too far and no one uses them as a result. We have two children (2 and 5). We see old people, families, people with strollers and dogs cross all the time at this dangerous juncture. We very much hope the city can install a pedestrian crossing and slow down sign for the safety of all. Thank you.
630 Bethmour Road Bethany, CT - BethanyFor several years now our first selectman promised to have this land owner clean up this Junk Yard mess. Last May the town hall leader's stated that this land owner would landscape the whole area and plant trees and be finished by June of 2011.
Why is our first selectman protecting this owner who could care less about Bethany and the people who have to live with this MESS.
June, 2012 is coming soon and our first selectman promise is still broken.
Why-Why-We the people, voters,& taxpayers want action now not another
broken promise which has become a trademark of our current leadership in Bethany.

This is a thread to discuss issues related to the ongoing problem of violence in some areas of New Haven and surrounding towns. Please vote here if you want to see this problem addressed and if you agree:
1. Every citizen has the right to freedom from fear: a safe neighborhood and a safe house.
2. No child living in New Haven or anywhere else nearby should have to hear gunshots every week in their neighborhood (I currently do!).
3. A friend recently said "it is easier to get a gun than a quart of milk in my neighborhood." This is obviously not an acceptable situation.
4. A comprehensive community strategy is needed to stop the violence. Elected representatives should be able to explain exactly what they are doing to support the community's strategy.
5. The constant outdoor gunfire at the police training range is not acceptable. People living in Newhallville and Beaver Hills hear constant gunfire from this range and it sends the wrong message.
Please post ideas for community organizing to stop the message, links to relevant pages, etc -- and send the message to everyone that enough is enough!
