160 Broadway Cambridge, Massachusetts - The Port
Hi Cambridge, it's Ian, are you listening?
Once again there are trucks parking in the bicycle lane on Broadway between Hampshire St and Galileo Galilei Way. I've attached a picture of the truck showing the license plate, as well as the back of a sign that says:
I think the sign is pretty clear, no stopping means no stopping, right? But the trucks are stopping and obstructing traffic. So let's take some action. I'd like to either see some bollards put up to prevent trucks from stopping here, or I'd like to see you removing the bike lane striping and put a "LOADING ZONE" sign in so that everyone is aware that this is a legal loading zone. I'd prefer bollards, but let's be real here, if you'd rather this stretch of road be a loading zone that's fine, just mark it as such so I expect to have to fight for my life while biking through this critical connector to Kendall Square.
I don't want a generic "This is being looked into" response. I'd like to talk to someone about what we can do to take some serious action here. If you're interested in bollards but not convinced they'll help let's trial it with orange traffic cones for a week.

A livery driver was stopped in the bicycle lane on Broadway, outside the building marked as 1 Hampshire St. I approached the driver and asked him to move his vehicle. He refused, so I called Cambridge Police, who were very nice, but admitted that they're very busy tonight and would likely not respond.
I'd imagine a livery driver, a professional driver, knows better than to obstruct the road while making a stop. Even more so when the passenger isn't even nearby! What's the protocol for reporting these drivers?
Finally, how do we fix this? Can we get some bright green pavement treatment? Or better yet, maybe some bollards to physically prevent cars from parking here?
1501 Cambridge St Cambridge, MA 02139, USA - Mid-CambridgeCars and delivery vehicles pose a perpetual danger to cyclists and motorists by using the bike lane as a temporary parking space. Not only do bicyclists have to merge into traffic, but vehicles often have to cross the stripe into oncoming traffic to go around the violating vehicle. Hazard lights shouldn't get you out of breaking the law and endangering your neighbors.
980 Memorial Dr Cambridge, MA - West CambridgeHeading westbound on Memorial Drive in Cambridge and all of a sudden there are cars parked in the right lane. There are no signs to warn you about this and I see people _all_the_time_ swerving in the left lane at the last second. I am frankly surprised that I haven't seen more accidents there. Either put a sign up to warn the drivers in the right lane, or prohibit parking on that stretch of road.
225 Windsor St Cambridge, MA 02139, USA - The PortIllegally parked truck, blocking the bike lane. This is the same truck in the same location at approximately the same time (8:00 a.m.) as yesterday - either CPD wasn't able to issue a citation yesterday or the company doesn't care. As with yesterday, today I called CPD at the time of the illegal parking.
Alewife Station Access Road Cambridge, MA 02140, USA - North Cambridge
Northbound of two-way (T station side) before one-way to Rte 2/Rte 16:
Cars constantly use the bike lane here. I'm in the designated car lane every day and I see cars coming down this street or pulling out of the T station parking lot into the bike lane.
The traffic is always awful here, especially now that there is construction on the one-way section going to the highway. HOWEVER, that is no excuse for cars to use the bike lane. I don't know how this can be fixed, but I really don't want a cyclist getting clipped -- or worse -- at this spot! Maybe some anchored flexible traffic delineators would do the trick?
48 Harvey St Cambridge, Massachusetts - North Cambridgea dumpster is on Harvey St, across the street from us. There was a permit that went until mid- JUne. THE DUMPSTER IS STILL THERE! taking up two parking spaces and making a home for rats (yes, I have seen them). Workers are filling it up from pick up trucks- I assume form other jobs at other addresses. Thank You for your time
142 Hampshire St Cambridge, Massachusetts - Cambridge
Multiple cars are parked over 2' away from the curb and obstructing the bike lane here. I've posted a picture of the first car I came across, there was at least one or two more further down the street as well.
This kind of terrible parking might be begrudgingly acceptable during a snow storm, or maybe up to a day after a storm, but almost two weeks after a storm? No, not even close to ok. This car needs to be ticketed and towed for obstructing the right of way.
369 Harvard St Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - Mid-Cambridgecontractor blocks two parking spots with space savers. i thought we have to apply and pay for parking spots for moving and contractors? why can they do it with buckets and a wheel barrel?
Pleasant St & Rockwell St Cambridge, MA, 02139, USA - CambridgeportPhoto of a large Clean Harbors truck trying to make the turn from Rockwell Street onto one way, crowded Pleasant Street- it is just NOT possible. Happens all the time. There should be a Traffic sign on the corner of River Street & Rockwell Street saying "No trucks or Busses allowed". Someone filed a complaint about this same issue within the last year- the City's response was to remove a parking space on the left hand side of Pleasant Street. Taking away parking spaces is not the solution- trucks and busses should not be using this route as a cut across to avoid the lights on River street.
1585 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, Massachusetts - Agassiz-HarvardCan someone in City Planning please work with Harvard Law to have them establish an Uber Pick up in the circular driveway on their property across from Waterhouse Street? With the protected bike lanes, when events let out, as one did yesterday around 4:45 pm, ubers stop in the driving lane closest to the protected bike lane, pedestrians start cutting across bike lanes with their luggage seemingly without knowing whose uber it is and frequently with outlook looking first: bikes, cars and pedestrians are all in peril as all traffic comes to a sudden halt.
