Notified About

  • 160-170 Broadway Cambridge, Massachusetts - The Port

Another day, another tractor trailer parked in the bike lane on Broadway. Yes yes, I called CPD. Unfortunately the driver saw me standing there and took off, so CPD's dispatcher didn't really care to record the issue, so here we are. Hooray for citizen action keeping road users safe, but we really shouldn't need to be doing that.

Again, can something be done to physically prevent trucks from parking in the bike lane here? As we've all learned, abstinence doesn't really work. If you want to avoid major issues you really need to protect users.

  • 1035 Cambridge St Cambridge, MA 02141, USA - Wellington-Harrington
CPD needs to enforce traffic laws. You can't even cross at the intersection of Cambridge and Webster anymore, the cars never stop at the light and ignore the no turn on red. What is the city's plan to increase ticketing and slow down these out of control drivers?!?
  • Bike Rack Request Acknowledged
    14 Cambridge St Cambridge, MA 02138, USA - Mid-Cambridge
The racks are completely full on Saturday mornings, but theres a bunch of former parking meters that would be perfect for bikes. Let's continue to promote family biking!
  • 60 Hampshire St Cambridge, Massachusetts - The Port

Yet again, more trucks blocking the bike lanes on Hampshire St this morning. This time we were further up the road, around 60 Hampshire St, but we had two trucks, blocking opposing sides of the street. One truck was blocking a bus stop, the other was parked taking up at least two meter spaces, with all meters expired.

Please, please, please start taking these violations seriously.

I did see a Traffic & Parking Enforcement Person out today, but they were driving a jeep. For some tasks that's likely appropriate, but would it be possible to get some of these folks on bikes, so they can easily patrol the major cycling corridors and focus on safety issues? A bonus would be if they could work with police to quickly call for a tow truck to remove the obstructing vehicle as quickly as possible.

1206 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge 02138 United States - Riverside
No bike racks in sight on this stretch of Mass Ave approaching Harvard Square. Would be great to see some on this but of sidewalk - bikes pictures here are locked to sign posts and parking meters. Thanks for looking into this location.
  • 197 Vassal Ln Cambridge 02138, United States - West Cambridge
This car parks on handicapped ramp and too close to hydrant virtually every school day in Tobin School parking lot

54-78 Broadway Cambridge, MA 02142, USA - Mit
Cabs blocking bike lane when the cab zone is full. They just park there. Please enforce parking rules.
  • 140 Otis St Cambridge, MA, 02141, USA - East Cambridge

Donovan-Aufiero is back at it again placing illegal space savers on the road to block off parking spaces without a permit. They were contacted by the city previously to stop this practice, but they are back with the cones. It's pretty clear that talking to them is not going to resolve this problem.

Please take appropriate action, and take into consideration that just talking to them is not enough to change their habits.

  • Qdoba 1280 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - Mid-Cambridge
There is no actual bike parking on this block. There are three sign posts, but two are handicapped parking. There are seven car spaces however!

Illegally parked car has been on street for weeks on an expired 2018 parking permit 18V24765. A single parking ticket was placed on this vehicle early this week but nothing since. Please remedy.
  • Cambridge City Hall 795 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA, 02139, USA - Mid-Cambridge
It's pretty impossible to walk through Cambridge, several days after the snow, without having to walk in the street or make your way across icy, unshoveled sidewalks. I see Cambridge Traffic Officers walking down the middle of the street, ostensibly of the same reason, without ticketing those who do not shovel. If the City's policy is that sidewalks are the property owners responsibility, and that responsibility is enforced through ticketing, can the City proactively do that? The current system of giving property owners a pass is unsafe to pedestrians, particularly the disabled and families with small children, and unfair to the majority of Cantabrigians who do the right thing and shovel.
  • 400-420 Mt Auburn St Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - West Cambridge
Horrible!!! Mt. Auburn st along side mt Auburn cemetery narrowed to one lane/ created bus lane only!!! The traffic is 3 times worse/ takes 20 min from star market to get through the intersection at mt Auburn/ Coolidge to get to the Hospital!!! It’s near the hospital, how can anyone thing narrowed towards is a good idea in that area!! This is crazy!! The neighborhood is appalled!!! The population is growing and we’re having smaller roads so occasional bike can have a lane and an outdated bus system that brakes on daily bases!!! It’s a joke!!! Horrible experiment!!!!
