Uphams Corner

Notified About

  • 554-562 Columbia Rd Boston, MA - North Dorchester
An unnamed company (van unmarked) is doing demolition on the building from 554-562 Columbia Rd (owned by Nick Verenis). They are removing the "signage" area up top which is leaning forward. They have completely blocked the sidewalk and they say they have a permit but no permit is on display.
  • 17 Virginia St Boston, MA - North Dorchester

About a month ago, I was walking down Virginia St towards Dudley. Out from #17 Virginia St came two dogs unleashed. This is not the first time I have seen these dogs running loose on the street. According to neighbors, the owner lets the dogs out without a leash "all the time."

I said to her: Did you know that your dogs are required to be leashed? She said: Yes.

I believe that Animal Control needs to visit this household to explain the leash law and their responsibilities.

  • Speed hump needed Acknowledged
25-49 Bird Street Boston, Massachusetts - North Dorchester
Today there was a rollover at the corner of Bird, Virginia, and Monadnock Streets due to a speeding driver. Although there are two stop signs on Bird St as cars enter Virginia and Monadnock, drivers continually ignore the signs and cops are rarely seen enforcing them. In the warmer weather, mopeds speed through this intersection, often travelling the wrong way down the one way roads. There is a daycare on this corner and parents park on the street and carry their babies into the building. There are also at least four homes in this intersection where toddlers and young children live. At the very least, there should be speed humps installed to help slow down the traffic. These roads are one way and entirety residential, so theoretically drivers would be careful and traffic minimal. However, with the ongoing construction on Columbia road, more and more drivers have begun using Virginia and Monadnock as shortcuts to avoid traffic on the main road. Speeding vehicles has become a major problem. Please do something to help before a tragedy occurs.
  • 41 Monadnock St Boston, MA - North Dorchester
Owner is not maintaining his property. Tall grass and weeds spilling out onto the sidewalk
  • 641 Columbia Rd Boston, MA - North Dorchester
Engine 21 Fire Station is one of the most poorly maintained fire stations in the City of Boston. It is overgrown with weeds most of the warmer months. The hedges in front are a collection of trees as well as "real" hedges. It's an ugly mess. They recently cut back the hedges but the lawn looks terrible. The back of the property is still overgrown and there is an old couch thrown out in the yard. This place is a DISGRACE to Upham's Corner.
  • 487 Columbia Rd boston, MA - North Dorchester
In front of 487 Columbia Rd are two patches of sidewalk that need repair. One surrounds the fire hydrant. The second, near by, is a mystery. Why a square hole in the middle of a patch of concrete?
  • 138-198 Cushing Avenue Boston, MA 02125, USA - North Dorchester
Sidewalk replaced looks bad, it's a mess. Please remove remaining concrete at the edge of the wall and fill with newone. Make it even and smooth. I don't know how did it but someone did it unprofessional. Kids would do it better. Thank you, I hope this issue will be fixed, sidewalk was looking good for years until some of the city contractor made a mess.
  • 198 Cushing Avenue Boston, MA 02125, USA - North Dorchester
please fix this part of the sidewalk. It's higher then the other part, create tripping hazard, problem with removing a snow, can damage a snow blower. Looks bad. Remove this part and fill with new concrete.
    thank you
