466-498 Hudson St Oakland, CA 94618, USA - Shafter
A homeless man has erected a structure which is growing daily in Hudson Street, across from Frog Park, and blocking the sidewalk by the casual carpool pickup. There is now lots of garbage, feces, debris, and some items that appear to be stolen. Please move this man into a shelter and remove all this junk from this public area.
5363-5367 Shafter Avenue Oakland, California - Shafter
Shafter is supposed to be a bike route, but it is so bumpy and rough that I and many other bicyclists avoid it. We really have few other alternatives to get to downtown Oakland -- Telegraph doesn't have bike lanes, as you know, and is full of buses. Please consider making resurfacing this street a priority, since it is a designated bike route and will be used much more if it isn't horribly uncomfortable. That will be good news for cyclists and everyone else because it will relieve some of the bike traffic on Telegraph.

This has been an ongoing problem for over a year. There is a homeless couple who lives at the top of the concrete slope under the bart track who use the slope as a bathroom. They have a mattress at the top of the slope and trash accumulates all along the slope as they discard their empty McDonald's wrappers and other items. It's disgusting to walk past and then stench of urine is overwhelming. The RV's that are parked there are too large and they extend into the lane of traffic making it more dangerous for bicyclists to travel down this very busy stretch of road. What appears to be drug and prostitution activities going on out of these vehicles makes it uncomfortable for residents to walk by and get to that stretch of telegraph ave which is improving more and more with new businesses moving in.
The homeless couple has been removed once before but they came right back and the RV's have been flagged but they return as well. With the amount of bike traffic it might be nice to eliminate parking under the overpass all together and putting a fence at the top of the concrete slope would keep the homeless couple from returning and eliminate the trash and urine problem.
Please help to create a lasting solution.

Homeless encampment and open fire under the freeway at Frog Park basketball court. A group of men now set up tents and tarps here every night, and have starting open cooking fires, leaving trash and burning embers. Oakland city staff, please come out here and get these guys into a shelter.

Campers occupying a corner of our neighborhood park. This is not just someone passing through with a shopping cart - they have built semi-permanent structures. Can social service providers find a more appropriate place for these folks to live?
Illegal occupation of public park:
There are at least 4 tents of homeless people occupying the pedestrian walk between the frog park and the DMV.
Some are very aggressive and have dogs barking at everyone passing by, including families and nannies with kids.
