This new store getting ready to open on the NW corner of 20th & Carpenter Streets is a disgrace. First, they breached the party wall through the back into the neighboring property. Next, they installed an air conditioner unit right out on the sidewalk (Carpenter St side). And today they have installed very ugly & DEFINITELY ILLEGAL awnings. They have no permission, variances or anything else that would be required to allow them to do these things. Neighbors unite against this blight!!
This is what the alley looks like the day after 'trash day' on Kaufmann. Half the garbage was put out in bags on the curb instead of in cans, and as the trash trucks drive down this alley they just run over the bags letting the contents spew in the alley. In other cases the trash cans themselves get knocked into the street by the trash trucks and the trucks just run them over instead of stopping, getting out, fixing or emptying the can, etc. This ruins the cans and leaves more trash spewing in the street. It's a hot summer and this trash just sits and rots. Half the trash was not picked up this week - as you can see it is still in the alley. It is disgusting. unsanitary and not totally the fault of the residents of both Catherine and Madison who have their trash 'picked up' in this alley. The city needs to address this ongoing problem.
Debra and Daniel Thompson from 2209 St Albans Street feel as if they have the right to reserve a parking space in front of their house on a daily basis. They use orange traffic cones to reserve the space and often use the same cones to reserve spaces for visiting members of their family. This has been going on for years, but I would say to all who need a parking spot in the area, that they should take the orange cones, throw them on the sidewalk, and park in the available space.
1907 Christian St has no windows. The rear of the property is falling down and is unsafe. The backyard is a health hazard, filled with garbage. Vernen, including racoons and opossum, have been seen occupying the property and are unsafe for the residents. Please do something about this property!!
The body of an orange and black bicycle has been locked to the stop sign at the corner of Grays Ferry and Catharine for months. The bike has no wheels, no seat, and no handle bars, and has not been touched for months. Please remove this as it's becoming an eyesore.
In front of this address (recently renovated into three units) there is a consistent buildup of trash from the bus stop that is located here and from general trash blowing around. Leaves have also accumulated and a dead pigeon has been lying on top of the rest for a few weeks. I think this location ultimately needs a trash can, but in the meantime someone should be accountable for cleaning up so it doesn’t get to this point.
Work is being done to the exterior of 2137 Catharine Street without permit. In addition, the contractors are not taking proper measures to cover the exterior of the home in order to prevent dust from spreading across the ares. Lastly, contractors recently dumped a truck of sand on Catharine Street, which now takes up a parking spot.
