Residents in surrounding homes use the city trash bin at the corner of Fitzwater and Grays Ferry to dispose of their daily household trash. By Friday the bin is overflowing onto the street, even worse on Saturday, and absolutely awful by Monday morning when the trash is removed by city trash removal service. By Wednesday, the trash bin has reached the top of the bin, and the overflowing trash cycle begins again. Sadly, the Philadelphia's "unlitter us" campaign is not working here.
The PPA just started ticketing cars on the west side of the street for "blocking driveway". If any of this building had cars or trucks driving in that would make sense. But there is nothing of the sort. One car was directly in front of the store front for the restaurant. I have trouble with the PPA making stuff up and the pedestrian entrance to a store is definitely not a driveway. There is a driveway on the other side (east side) but the building on the west side has no vehicle entrance or any sign to indicate anything others then pedestrian entrance to stores. I want the PPA to stop giving false tickets. I know some areas have been more lax and they are cracking down... But this is just ridiculous! There should have to be a driveway before anyone can get a ticket for blocking one.
Lot abandoned by Dorrance Construction 3 years ago. Company is out of business and owners gone missing. They also left the shell in the middle of 18th and 1021 S. Dorrance. Is 3 years enough for this mess?
The tenants of 2217 St Albans street continue to throw raw garbage and recyclable trash onto the sidewalk next to the property. This photo was taken today 8/21 and the scheduled pick up for trash is on Monday 8/26. The garbage is rotting and smells disgusting. The tenants need to be fined and informed that the trash cannot be left on the sidewalk and needs to be placed on the curb the later in the day before pick up at the earliest.
This is the only portion of sidewalk on the block that is not concrete. The bricks have shifted and many have been removed in the area where it meets the concrete sidewalk. Handicapped passerby's and strollers cannot pass on this side of the street. Bikers often fall and people trip when attempting to pass over the hole. This is extremely dangerous. Please fix ASAP.
After the last block clean up this wire trash bin appeared on the 1500 block of Montrose. Predictably, people began filling it with trash. Sanitation will not pick it up during weekly trash collection. It is now overflowing and stinky. This bin needs to be emptied and removed from the street.
